The Cleveland Browns may want to add to help their playoff chances.
Entering Week 6 of the NFL season, the Cleveland Browns have to be feeling very good about themselves.
Cleveland sits with a record of 3-2 on the season, with the team looking more competitive than in recent years. Much of this has to do from the play of quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has done just enough to allow the team to be in a position to win games.
While Watson hasn't exploded with his numbers this year, his play has given the Browns a chance to come out on top. This is all Cleveland can ask for from their signal-caller, and Watson has stepped up for this team so far.
Due to the success that the Browns have seen this season so far, there is some talk of them going on a playoff run. But for that to happen, Cleveland will need to make sure that they can protect Watson, keeping him upright throughout the season.
With the NFL trade deadline approaching, the Browns could elect to make some moves, adding to the roster. If Cleveland could bring in some extra offensive line help, it could make a big difference down the line.
One name that could be interesting for the Browns to consider is veteran guard Landon Dickerson of the Philadelphia Eagles. Dickerson is currently on injured reserve, but he is expected to be back in the coming weeks.
The three-time Pro Bowl guard could be on the move, especially after the Eagles have been shuffling their offensive line. Philadelphia could elect to move the star, and the Browns may want to jump at this opportunity if he's available.
NFL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report linked the two sides together, calling the Browns a landing spot for Dickerson. Knox sees Dickerson's trade value as a conditional second-round draft pick, which makes sense considering how good he has been in the league over the years.
Cleveland could use a boost to its offensive line, and adding someone like Dickerson could be the answer. The Browns' lack of a running game has been a problem, and Dickerson could immediately come in to make a difference.
If the Browns can get the running game going, it would open up the passing game for Watson, being mutually beneficial all around. Dickerson is under contract through the 2028 season, and this would give the Browns a building block up front.
All in all, Dickerson is one of the best guards in the NFL when he's healthy, and the Browns may want to check in to see if he would be available. If he is, Cleveland should make sure that no stone is left unturned to land the three-time Pro Bowl star.
