Arizona's Treydan Stukes offers Buccaneers a disciplined, intelligent corner. His veteran instincts and smarts could solidify Tampa Bay's aggressive secondary.

Treydan Stukes enters the 2026 NFL Draft as one of the most experienced, battle‑tested defensive backs in the Pac‑12 -- and a looker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' blitz-heavy, 3-4 defensive schemes.

Will the Bucs look to deepen their ranks in the secondary in this year's draft?

Tampa Bay will make its first selection on opening night at this year's draft, with the No. 15 pick, on Thursday, April 23, in Pittsburgh. The team owns a total of seven picks this year, including three in the top 100.

In the meantime, Bucs Roundtable will take a closer look at a range of prospects headed for the 2026 draft that might jell with Tampa Bay's current roster, coaching staff, and the team's X's and O's strategies.

NFL draft analyst Jeremy Ballreich has chased down top defensive talent that might interest the Bucs, including defensive ends Cashius Howell from Texas A&M and Miami Hurricane Akheem Mesidor as well as elite linebackers the likes of Indiana's Aiden Fisher and Georgia's CJ Allen. As the Bucs add depth in their secondary, available star prospects include Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun and South Carolina safety Jalon Kilgore.

Offensive role players also will be a focal point for the Bucs, and our draft profiles will feature offensive linemen like Penn State's Vega Ioane as well as center Trey Zuhn III out of Texas A&M.

Here, we turn the spotlight on Arizona cornerback Treydan Stukes.

Discipline & High Football IQ

The Goodyear, Arizona, native is a long, instinctive corner with a technician’s mindset and the competitive edge of a player who has had to earn every snap. His game isn’t built on flash or raw athletic dominance; it’s built on discipline, intelligence, and a deep understanding of how to win matchups through leverage, timing, and anticipation.

In a class full of traits‑based prospects, Stukes stands out as a steady, reliable cover man who simply doesn’t beat himself.

Background & Development

A former walk‑on who rose through Arizona’s depth chart, Stukes embodies the "earned, not given" mentality. His early years were defined by special-teams work, scout‑team battles, and incremental growth. But as Arizona rebuilt its defense, Stukes became a foundational piece -- a corner the coaching staff trusted to handle boundary responsibilities, match physical receivers, and execute coverage rules with precision.

His rise coincided with Arizona’s defensive resurgence. As the Wildcats transitioned into a more aggressive, pattern‑match‑heavy scheme, Stukes’ football IQ became a weapon. He consistently aligned teammates, communicated adjustments, and played with the confidence of a veteran who had seen every route combination in the book.

By the time he declared, he had logged thousands of snaps, faced NFL‑caliber receivers weekly, and emerged as one of the most dependable corners in the conference.

Stukes isn’t a burner, but at 6-foot and 185 pounds, he’s a fluid athlete with clean transitions and the kind of controlled movement that allows him to stay connected through breaks. His length and timing help him play bigger than his listed size.

On‑Field Strengths

Stukes' technique is one of his defining traits. Stukes plays with quiet feet, maintains leverage, and uses his hands with precision rather than panic. He’s comfortable squeezing vertical routes to the sideline, passing off crossers, and staying attached through the catch point. His timing at the moment of attack is excellent; he plays through the receiver’s hands without drawing flags.

In zone coverage, Stukes is even more impressive. He understands route distribution, communicates well, and consistently positions himself to take away throwing windows. His ability to bait quarterbacks -- showing cushion before driving downhill -- led to several key breakups and near‑turnovers.

Areas for Improvement

Stukes’ biggest limitation is his top‑end athletic ceiling. He’s a good athlete, not a great one, and he may struggle against elite vertical threats who can stack and separate downfield. His recovery speed is adequate but not forgiving.

He also needs to add functional strength. Bigger NFL receivers may be able to out‑muscle him at the catch point or displace him in press if he doesn’t continue to develop his frame.

Finally, while he’s consistently in position, his ball production could improve. Turning more pass breakups into interceptions will elevate his value.

Prospect Draft Position

Stukes projects as a smart, steady CB4 early in his career with a clear path to becoming a reliable CB2 in a zone‑heavy or match‑quarters system. His instincts, technique, and consistency give him a high floor, and his experience against top competition makes him NFL‑ready from a mental standpoint. Late Day 2 or Early Day 3 pick
