Undrafted rookie QB Jalon Daniels had a terrible game on Sunday against the Steelers. His two fourth-quarter interceptions helped the Bucs blow a 16-3 lead and fall to 1-5.

Ouch.

That's probably the best word to sum up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' devastating loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

As had been the case so often during the Bucs' first four losses of the season, their inability to score touchdowns and having to settle for field goals cost them the game.

Even without scoring touchdowns, it still looked like Tampa had this game in the bag before a massive choke job in the fourth quarter and overtime snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Bucs were in control for most of the game and took a 16-3 lead into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the Steelers scored 16 straight points to take a 19-16 lead. The Bucs then needed a 53-yard Chase McLaughlin field goal with only eight seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Overtime was just a continuation of the fourth quarter, with the Steelers getting the ball first and driving down the field with ease. Pittsburgh put together a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive that only left the Bucs with 3:15 left on the clock.

Tampa somehow was only able to go 15 yards in 10 plays, and the game fittingly ended with quarterback Jalon Daniels being sacked on fourth down. It was the fifth time Daniels was sacked in the game.

Speaking of Daniels, the undrafted rookie came crashing back to Earth against the Steelers. After playing so well in Tampa's huge upset of the Dallas Cowboys, Daniels took a huge step backwards against Pittsburgh.

Daniels Inefficient And Had Multiple Interceptions

After playing a clean, efficient game against Dallas, Daniels was the complete opposite against the Steelers.

The rookie completed only 22 of his 43 passes for 164 yards. He threw one touchdown and a pair of fourth-quarter interceptions that absolutely killed the Bucs' ability to protect their lead.

Up 16-10, Daniels floated a pass off his back foot that was easily picked off by Steelers rookie Daylen Everette in Bucs territory.

Tampa's defense would hold the Steelers to a field goal, but it only seemed like a matter of time before the Bucs would lose the lead.

It wouldn't take long. The Bucs went three-and-out on their next possession, and Pittsburgh was then able to kick a game-tying field goal.

With only 1:46 left, Daniels was picked again by former Buc Jamel Dean, who returned it all the way to the Tampa three-yard line.

The defense would, once again, hold Pittsburgh to a field goal, but the Bucs were now trailing for the first time all game.

Both interceptions were terrible throws by Daniels, who looked every bit the undrafted rookie he is.

Final Thoughts

All the hope the win over the Cowboys gave the Bucs was instantly wiped away by Sunday's loss. Not only are the Bucs now 1-5, but it will take a long time to get the taste of this defeat out of their mouths.

The Carolina Panthers won again on Sunday and are now 3-2 for the season. Tampa is 2.5 games back and once again looked like one of the NFL's worst teams.

Another terrific showing from Tampa's defense was wasted on Sunday.

Starting QB Baker Mayfield should be returning soon, possibly next week.

Unfortunately, it likely won't matter, as Tampa's season again looks lost.
