The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are atop the NFC South after a dominant rushing performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Bucky Irving and Kenneth Gainwell each set career-bests for single-game rushing yards.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday was one of the most-unique wins in recent history, with starting quarterback Baker Mayfield failing to complete a pass, but the offense still moving the ball effectively.

Four interceptions from head coach Todd Bowles' secondary, including three in the first half, set the Bucs up in plus territory, as the team continues to lean on the run and strength of the offensive line.

Starting running back Bucky Irving and secondary tailback Kenneth Gainwell each set career-bests for yards on the ground, recording 170 and 140 respectively.

This tandem performance represents the first time a duo has run for 125 or more yards on 25 or more carries each in the history of the NFL, and illustrates the front office's vision for bringing in Gainwell this offseason.

After hiring Zac Robinson as the franchise's next offensive coordinator, adding another running back to fit his dual-RB scheme became a need.

Gainwell, who had a career-year with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, fit the mold as a player Robinson could utilize out of the backfield.

Alongside Aaron Rodgers, Gainwell hauled in a career high 73 receptions, but didn't see much action as a runner.

With Tampa, this has been flip-flopped, as Gainwell's rushing totals are far outweighing his production in the receiving game.

Although Irving will remain the lead workhorse in the backfield, Gainwell's continued impact has helped the Bucs turn their season around.

Through the opening half of the season, Gainwell's five yards per carry ranks tied for eighth in the NFL alongside Irving.

With 170 yards against the Falcons, Irving is now fourth in the NFL with 728 yards rushing, and the former fourth-round selection is beginning to look like the player who took the NFL by storm as a rookie.

Outside of a 46-yard rushing performance against the Steelers in Week 6, Irving has cracked triple-digits in three of his last four weeks, and has led the Bucs' offense to two wins despite limited or no value in the passing game.

With Tampa now atop the NFC South, the road doesn't get much easier, as the Bucs will travel to face off with the Chicago Bears on next Sunday.

The Bears have not been stout against the run this season, but just mortgaged two first-round picks for All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who will provide a big boost in the middle of their defense.
