Taking a look at the top three takeaways from the Los Angeles Chargers' brutal loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4.

The Los Angeles Chargers were hoping to pick up a win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4, but unfortunately, the Chargers lost 30-23 and fell to 0-4.

In this game, the Chargers had an opportunity to get it done, but unfortunately they did not. So, let’s take a look at the top three takeaways from this game.

1. Justin Herbert Struggles Under Heavy Pressure

In this game, quarterback Justin Herbert really had some trouble being able to get going, especially in the first half due to the heavy pressure as Los Angeles had three points heading into halftime.

The game did not start off well for Herbert as he threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage and throughout the game he was under a significant amount of pressure as he was sacked four times and was hit a total of 10 times. Herbert also threw another interception and on the final offensive play for Los Angeles he was sacked and he fumbled which gave Seattle the ball back and ended this game.

Moving forward, the Chargers have to find a way to be able to protect Herbert a lot better, and additionally Herbert has to protect the ball much better, otherwise this offense will continue to struggle and get off to slow starts.

2. The Pass Rush Has a Solid Outing

On the defensive side, the defense up front did a solid job of being able to generate pressure which played a role in holding the Seahawks to 168 passing yards and having quarterback sam Darnold record a QBR of 20.4.

For the game, the Chargers were able to sack Darnold three times, hit him a total of nine times, and add eight total tackles for loss. So, looking at the performance, the defensive front, and in particular edge rushers Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu, did a solid job, which bodes well moving forward.

Heading into Week 5, if the defensive front can continue to perform well against the run and generate pressure in the pass game, this defense has the ability to take over and potentially get the Chargers in a position where the offense does not need to do as much which could help this team get their first victory of the season.

3. The Offensive Line Has Major Injury Concerns

Arguably, the most concerning development from this game is that the Chargers' offensive line has even more injury concerns. On Sunday afternoon, the Chargers saw offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt go down, in addition to left guard Trevor Penning. Meaning that Los Angeles lost both starting tackles and has to go to their fourth option at left guard.

With all the injuries that occurred, the Chargers were forced to play rookies Travis Burke, Jacob Spomer, and Logan Taylor, and needed to move Jake Slaughter from center to left guard. In this game, right guard Cole Strange was the only starter who made it through the whole game.

As the Chargers move on from this game, it will be worth watching how head coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel manage the rotation up front, with Slater expected to be out for a while, as well as Alt working through a neck injury and the left guard position being in flux, with Penning now hurt as well.
