The Kansas City Chiefs offensive line has been one of the team's biggest surprises thus far this season, but injuries could force other guys to step up on Monday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs once again look like the best team in the NFL, much to the chagrin of the rest of the league.

They are 3-1 in their last four games after a 0-2 start, and Patrick Mahomes once again looks like the MVP of the league. Much of the talk about the offensive fireworks recently has been because the team got Rashee Rice and Xavier Worth back the last couple of weeks.

However, one of the most underrated parts of why the Chiefs offense playing at such a high level is that the offensive line has been great recently.

They are giving Mahomes a ton of time, and he has complete trust in this unit. He is staying in the pocket when he needs to, and is allowing his receivers the time to complete the route.

Many guys have stepped up for the offensive line, but they may need even more guys to step up as Josh Simmons and Trey Smith both missed practice on Friday.

Simmons has missed the last two games for the Chiefs, as he has been away from the team dealing with 'personal issues'. The team hadn't elaborated much on his status, but Reid did tell reporters on Thursday that Simmons is fine and that the situation is positive, not negative.

Smith suffered a back injury during the game against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7, but the team doesn't believe it to be too serious.

With those two out during the game last Sunday, Jaylon Moore and Mike Caliendo both stepped up in a big way.

Injuries are a huge part of the NFL, and teams have to be able to adjust and have the next guy up mentality.

For the Chiefs, they will be in action against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football in Week 8. However, a much bigger test is looming in Week 9 when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills in a game that will play a huge role in who is the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

The status of Simmons is still a question mark moving forward, as the team hasn't announced when he will join the team again. For Smith, the Chiefs may be cautious with bringing him back for the Commanders game. The team didn't miss a beat when Smith left the game in Week 7, and having him healthy for that Bills game is extremely important.
