Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has a property in Ohio, and he's involved in a landscaping dispute.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce married a billionaire, and sometimes billionaires aren’t generally known to be good neighbors. Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift count a mansion in Ohio as one of their residences, and their landscaping plans for the $5.35 million property has once again been stalled by their neighbors in Bratenahl, Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie, per a report from Anwesha Nag of BoredPanda.
It’s not the usual stuff of sports fodder, but this is Kelce’s world now. Presumably he’s living in Kansas City during the season, but the locals aren’t happy about what he and Swift are doing to the couple’s new property.
The celebrity couple has already been rejected twice for plans to erect a six-foot-tall aluminum fence around the property and plant about 50 towering trees around the mansion, per Nag
The appeal for the fence was unanimously approved last month, and residents “pulled out all the stops” to thwart the plans as a whole, according to the writer, as they’ve labeled Kelce and swift as “absentee owners.”
One neighbor in particular raised an interesting argument, asking what would happen with 50 evergreen trees sitting on their sewer line and Kelce and Swift nowhere to be found.
It wasn’t always like this for Kelce, however. He became a minority owner in the offseason by buying a small piece of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, and he was seen chugging a beer at courtside at a Cavaliers’ playoff game earlier this year.
Now, however, real life has set in -- the Kelce/Swift version of it, anyway -- and they’re here, there and everywhere winning football games and music awards, depending seemingly on who’s up next.
Kelce certainly won’t have time to deal with the dispute, so presumably it will be up to Taylor Swift to quell the storm. She’s been known to have a penchant for privacy in her mansions in scenic locales, as the couple also has a mansion in Rhode Island.
The tight end, meanwhile, is busy winning football games. The Chiefs are back on top again now that Kelce’s chief football buddy, qarterback Patrick Mahomes, is back from knee surgery and playing well, and while Kelce is showing his age at 36, he’s been making enough plays to still be considered a threat.
There’s been no report of an effort to calm the storm during the bye week, so presumably no further work will continue on the property until the dispute is resolved.
