Chiefs Will Benefit From Walker III's Revenge Game Against Seahawks

The Kansas City Chiefs are taking their undefeated streak into a matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have their hands full against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 7 as they try to stay undefeated on “Sunday Night Football.”

The Chiefs have been firing on all cylinders and wiped the floor with the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, defeating their division rivals 22-6 in a contest that was never close. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes had just seven incompletions and threw for 272 yards but threw an interception in a game that was once again dominated by Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Kenneth Walker III.

Walker has been a man on a mission after he helped lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl championship, cementing himself as a star with 665 rushing yards (most) and six touchdowns on 106 carries while hauling in 14 receptions for 95 yards and two more scores through just five games.

The potential league MVP and Offensive Player of the Year is on pace to rush for 2,261 yards and 20 touchdowns ahead of a meeting against the team that drafted him. Walker spent four seasons with the Seahawks and was good, but not nearly as effective as he has been with Kansas City.

Walker’s best season came during his rookie season, rushing for 1,050 yards in 15 games. He reached the 1,000-yard plateau again last season, logging 1,027 in 17 games, but at the rate the fifth-year back is going he will reach that mark by Week 9 – Walker is averaging 133 yards per game on the ground.

Now facing his former team, Walker is set for a huge revenge game, and I expect him to play even harder this week than ever before in front of his former home fans.

The Seahawks have noticeably lost an edge in their running game since losing Walker, but the return of Zach Charbonnet (practiced in full all week but listed as out this week) should help them regain some of their identity.

Kansas City’s defense will have to find a way to stop star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is bidding for the OPOY as well. “JSN” is off to an incredible start, hauling in 49 receptions (tied-most) for 717 yards (most) and seven touchdowns (most) through six games.

The reigning OPOY is on pace for 139 receptions, 2,032 yards and 20 touchdowns. Last season, JSN caught 119 passes for 1,793 yards and 10 scores, which puts into perspective just how dominant he has been.

If the Chiefs can contain the fourth-year receiver, they should be able to knock off the defending champs that have had the Super Bowl hangover going and put a playoff spot in sight.
