Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is reportedly expected to play through an ankle injury on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indianapolis Colts have received terrific news on the injury front throughout the week, but their opponent on Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs, has a bit of their own good fortune.

Top big-play threat Xavier Worthy is expected to play in this matchup after being limited in the week of practice with an ankle injury, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

"#Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy, listed as questionable with an ankle injury, is expected to go Sunday, source said," Rapoport posted on X.

Worthy did not practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and then was a full participant on Friday.

While the threat of Worthy is valuable to the Chiefs, the question is how limited he will be, given that his game is built on speed, explosion, and agility.

In eight games this season, Worthy has caught 27-of-45 targets for 281 yards (10.4 avg.) and one touchdown, to go with seven carries for 73 yards (10.4 avg.). He suffered a shoulder injury in Week 1 as a result of a collision with teammate Travis Kelce, which caused Worthy to miss Weeks 2 and 3.

To counter Worthy, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs' passing attack, the Colts will reveal their starting cornerback tandem of Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward Sr. for the first time on Sunday.

The Colts traded for Gardner two weeks ago ahead of the NFL's trade deadline, and he made his debut that week in Berlin, Germany, against the Atlanta Falcons. The Colts then had their bye last week.

Ward had been out since Week 6 after suffering a second concussion in the regular season, but he returned to the practice field this week and has been cleared to play against the Chiefs.

“I mean, I just like how he attacks every day when it comes to practice, meeting rooms," Gardner said about Ward this week. "Obviously, he got a good resume, too. He did a lot – his time at KC, his time at San Fran. So, it's just good for us to be able to pair with each other. Go out there and do our thing.”

The Chiefs host the Colts at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game can be viewed on CBS.
