The Indianapolis Colts got quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. back in the building during voluntary offseason workouts amid his trade request.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. is reporting to the Indianapolis Colts (ESPN's Stephen Holder), as they are in the midst of Phase 2 of the offseason program.

Anthony Richardson Sr. has joined the Indianapolis Colts for their voluntary workouts, as the team is currently in Phase 2 of their offseason program, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder.

"Colts QB Anthony Richardson reported today for voluntary offseason workouts after staying home the past two weeks, per source," Holder posted on X. "With the Colts seemingly no closer to trading him, as he requested, and with no indication they’ll release him, he’s back for the time being. Stay tuned."

Colts general manager Chris Ballard spoke to the media on April 20 as the team's offseason program began and gave the team's first official update on Richardson and his trade request.

"(Richardson) is down in Jacksonville training," Ballard said. "I actually have talked to his trainer, who's – and I talk to him often and his agent, but he's in good spirits. Nothing has transpired at this point. I don't know any question you're going to ask other than, will he be here? Well, he could be. We'll see. But as of right now, he's down there training in Jacksonville. So, we'll kind of work through that as we go."

While Ballard acknowledged the trade request and Richardson's absence from the team at that time, he also expressed an openness about Richardson remaining on the team in 2026.

"I still think Anthony has real value in this league and I've been happy with his growth," Ballard said. "And he's an extremely talented young man."

Holder originally broke the news of Richardson requesting a trade back in late February during the NFL Scouting Combine. The Colts agreed to allow Richardson to seek a trade, which has yet to transpire.

The 2026 NFL Draft came and went from April 23-25 without a deal, and then the Colts declined Richardson's fifth-year option on May 1, making 2026 his final year under contract.
