The Indianapolis Colts activated cornerback Jaylon Jones off of Injured Reserve ahead of their matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

PITTSBURGH, Penn. — Some much-needed reinforcements are on the way for the Indianapolis Colts, as they have activated cornerback Jaylon Jones from the Injured Reserve list.

Jones was a full participant in practice throughout this week after returning the the practice field as a limited participant all three days last week.

Jones has been on IR since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. He played just six snaps in that game — all on special teams — before his day was done. It was a reaggravation of an injury that plagued Jones for numerous weeks during the offseason and training camp.

The Colts have been quite shorthanded at cornerback this season with Charvarius Ward Sr., Justin Walley, and Jones on IR, and Mike Hilton on the practice squad injured list. Xavien Howard abruptly retired during the season, and Kenny Moore II spent a few weeks on the sideline with an Achilles injury as well.

Jones was the Colts' top outside cornerback for his first two years in the league before getting injured and taking a back seat this season. In 35 career games (27 starts), Jones has 144 tackles (four for loss), one forced fumble, two interceptions, and 17 pass breakups.

In other moves, the Colts signed cornerback Cameron Mitchell to the active roster from the practice squad. They also waived linebacker Chad Muma and safety Trey Washington to make room on the roster for Jones and Mitchell.

For Sunday’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Colts elevated wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and defensive end Darell Nchami to the active roster from the practice squad.

Mitchell was signed to the Colts' practice squad in early October after being waived by the Cleveland Browns. Mitchell has been active with the Colts for the last three games, totaling three tackles (one for loss).

Treadwell will be making his second appearance this season for the Colts after racking up three special teams stops two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Nchami will also make his second appearance after he was elevated last week with defensive ends Samson Ebukam (knee) and Tyquan Lewis (groin) both out, as they still are this week. Nchami logged two tackles in 29 defensive snaps.
