INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts began their week of preparation for Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals with some good news, as some of their injury woes are beginning to improve.

The Colts have been without starters, wide receiver Alec Pierce (concussion) and slot cornerback Kenny Moore II (Achilles), since late in the team's Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, but both are said to be making progress, according to Colts head coach Shane Steichen.

"Alec Pierce, he's still in the protocol, but he will practice today. Kenny Moore II, we're going to work him out here on the field – see if he can practice today," Steichen told reporters on Wednesday.

The Colts also appear to have dodged a bullet with nose tackle Grover Stewart's biceps injury, as he was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Oftentimes, players who injure their biceps are out for several weeks or even months.

The Cardinals, meanwhile, sat quarterback Kyler Murray on Wednesday due to a foot injury he suffered in last week's loss to the Tennessee Titans that he ultimately played through.

Here's how each team's health is shaping up ahead of Sunday afternoon's battle:

    COLTS

    WEDNESDAY

    • Did Not Participate — RB Tyler Goodson (groin), DE Tyquan Lewis (illness), CB Kenny Moore II (Achilles), OT Braden Smith (rest)
    • Full Participant — WR Alec Pierce (concussion), DT Grover Stewart (biceps)

Last week, Pierce was able to practice in full on Wednesday and Thursday, but wasn't able to practice on Friday, and therefore remained in the concussion protocol. His status bears monitoring, and both Thursday and Friday will be crucial for him.

Goodson remains out after suffering a groin injury two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Rams. He did not return to that game and has not practiced since.

With Moore still not practicing, it obviously puts his status in doubt for this week. His backup, Mike Hilton, suffered a shoulder injury last week that landed him on the Practice Squad Injured Reserve list, so it would likely be Chris Lammons starting in the slot for the Colts this Sunday.

    CARDINALS

    WEDNESDAY

    • Did Not Participate — OT Kelvin Beachum (rest), QB Kyler Murray (foot), DT Darius Robinson (pectoral)
    • Limited Participant — G Evan Brown (hamstring), G Will Hernandez (knee), CB Will Johnson (groin), WR Zay Jones (knee), CB Max Melton (hamstring), LB Cody Simon (knee), OT Jonah Williams (foot), LB Mack Wilson (ankle)

Murray is the most significant development here as Arizona's starting quarterback and one of their top players. If he's unable to play, it'll be a familiar face starting against the Colts, former Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who was with the team from 2017-20.

Robinson missed last week's game with his pec injury, so it's something worth continuing to monitor.

The Colts and Cardinals play this Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 1:00 p.m. E.T. on FOX.
