The Indianapolis Colts added a pair of veteran defenders, as well as a basketball player making his first appearance on the football field.

The Indianapolis Colts signed veteran free agent DT Jerry Tillery as well as former Notre Dame basketball player Carson Towt, to play TE. Former Colts offensive lineman Danny Pinter also signed with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Indianapolis Colts continued their busy offseason of adding role players on Tuesday, as the team agreed to contracts with veteran free agent defenders, cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt and defensive tackle Jerry Tillery.

The Colts also signed tight end Carson Towt, a college basketball player out of Notre Dame who hasn't played organized football before.

Taylor-Britt (5'11", 200, 26 years old) was a second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 NFL Draft, who played for current Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo in Cincinnati from 2022-24 when Anarumo held the same position with the Bengals.

Taylor-Britt has started 40-of-47 career games, totaling 203 tackles (four for loss), 0.5 sacks, two QB hits, two forced fumbles, seven interceptions, 38 pass breakups, and has scored two defensive touchdowns.

The veteran corner fell out of favor with the new defensive coaching staff in 2025, getting benched as a starter early in the season, and then was made a healthy scratch for a week in Week 7. He got back into the lineup but suffered a season-ending Lisfranc injury in his left foot in Week 11.

He now joins a loaded cornerback room already featuring Sauce Gardner, Charvarius Ward Sr., Kenny Moore II, Mekhi Blackmon, Johnathan Edwards, and Jaylon Jones, which has left fans speculating if one of the members may be on the way out prior to the upcoming season.

Regardless, the Colts' cornerback room was decimated by injury in 2025, with Ward missing 10 games, Gardner missing most of five, and Moore missing three.

Tillery (6'6", 295, 29) was a first-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2019 before traveling around to the Las Vegas Raiders (2022-23), Minnesota Vikings (2024), and Kansas City Chiefs (2025).

In 113 career games (53 starts), Tillery has totaled 195 tackles (17 for loss), 14.0 sacks, 46 QB hits, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and four pass breakups. Last year with Kansas City, he started three-of-17 games and had 20 tackles (two for loss), 1.5 sacks, two QB hits, and one fumble recovery.

Tillery will likely compete with Colby Wooden to be in the rotation at three-technique defensive tackle behind DeForest Buckner.

Towt (6'8", 250, 24) is arguably the most interesting signing of the bunch. He played college basketball for Northern Arizona from 2019-24 before transferring to Notre Dame for his final season.

He averaged 5.9 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Fighting Irish, and had a single-season career high of .610 field goal percentage. The year prior, he led the NCAA in rebounding with 12.4 per game.

Towt is likely to be a developmental player on the Colts' practice squad, as the team already has Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory, and Sean McKeon at the position.
