The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly one of four teams that have "reached out about signing" free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold while he awaits trial on felony charges.
The Indianapolis Colts are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the deepest possible cornerback group.
On Friday, Detroit Lions beat reporter Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reported that the Indianapolis Colts are one of four teams that have inquired with the representation of former Lions and current free agent cornerback Terrion Arnold.
"Terrion Arnold's agent, Nicole Lynn, said in a court hearing this morning that 4 teams have reached out about signing Arnold, he had one visit this week and has another set next week," Birkett posted on X. "She said there is a 'very good likelihood' he's signed in the next 45 days.
"Lynn said the Colts, Jets, Seahawks, and Texans have reached out about signing Terrion Arnold."
Birkett also mentioned that Arnold has worked out for the Houston Texans. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Arnold is scheduled to visit two teams next week as well.
Arnold was released by the Lions in June following his arrest on felony armed robbery and kidnapping charges.
"Authorities accuse (Arnold) of orchestrating the abduction and beating of three men whom prosecutors believe he wrongly suspected of having stolen luxury goods and $100,000 in cash from him," per ESPN.
"According to prosecutors, the victims were abducted three days after cash and luxury items, including Rolex watches and Louis Vuitton bags, were reported stolen from Arnold at an Airbnb rental in the Tampa area. Prosecutors say that six of Arnold's associates carried out the crimes by holding, beating, and pistol-whipping the victims and that Arnold wasn't there at the time."
Arnold (6'0", 195, 23 years old) was the Lions' first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft (No. 24 overall) and has started 22-of-24 games, totaling 91 tackles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and 18 pass breakups.
He is currently confined to his home in Florida while awaiting trial, other than for work and attorney-related matters.
The Colts are currently stocked at cornerback, so adding a recent first-round pick such as Arnold may seem like a luxury, until considering the Colts were forced to play nine different cornerbacks for at least 100 snaps last year due to injuries.
Top corners Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward Sr. played in just one full game together, while Gardner was limited to just four appearances due to a calf injury and Ward was plagued by concussions throughout the year, limiting him to seven games. Projected starting slot corner Justin Walley also tore an ACL last summer and missed his entire rookie year.
