The Indianapolis Colts have made several roster moves since our most recent check-up on their roster. What does it look like now?

The Indianapolis Colts made a pair of free-agent signings, with WR Nick Westbrooke-Ikhine and LB Akeem Davis-Gaither. Will both players be new starters for this team?

The Indianapolis Colts have been quite active this month during the start of NFL free agency.

While they haven't made many outside "splash" signings, the Colts have brought in 11 new players, re-signed eight of their own free agents, and executed two trades.

Currently, their roster stands at 77 players (maximum is 90), with roughly $25-$28 million in salary cap space to spend, according to OverTheCap.com. They are also slated to have seven picks in April's 2026 NFL Draft, but general manager Chris Ballard has already said they will likely end up making more than that.

While the Colts still have some needs to address, let's check in on their roster once again after a busy week.

QUARTERBACK

Daniel Jones, Riley Leonard, Seth Henigan, Anthony Richardson Sr.

Urgency: Low

We know that Jones will be the team's starter in 2026, but we don't know definitively that he'll be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Internally, the team is optimistic and expects him to be ready, but will they make any moves for insurance? If so, does Riley Leonard remain the QB2? Also, keep an eye on whether Richardson finally gets traded.

RUNNING BACK

Jonathan Taylor, DJ Giddens, Ulysses Bentley IV

Urgency: Medium

Taylor is the unquestioned starter, but it feels unlikely that the Colts won't add competition for Giddens. The rookie was active for just nine games last year despite a lot of offseason hype, and the Colts very much want a complement to Taylor who can gut out tough yards in key situations. I listed the urgency as low earlier in the week, but it may actually be a little higher since there are only three players, and Giddens may not be the team's RB2.

WIDE RECEIVER

Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Ashton Dulin, Anthony Gould, Laquon Treadwell, Coleman Owen, Eli Pancol

Urgency: Medium

The Colts signed Westbrook-Ikhine this week, who should absorb some of Michael Pittman Jr.'s role. The rest of the void left by trading away Pittman and AD Mitchell is likely to be filled by Westbrook-Ikhine and Dulin, and perhaps a 2026 draft pick. This group is still missing something, though, as Westbrook-Ikhine is not quite as impactful as Pittman, and the team still needs to replace Mitchell.

TIGHT END

Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory, Sean McKeon, Carson Towt

Urgency: None

The Colts are running it back at tight end, with their top five players still in place, but they made an intriguing addition in Towt, a Notre Dame basketball player who is completely new to football. He'll likely claim a practice squad spot when the season arrives if he picks up the game well.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Bernhard Raimann, Jalen Travis, Luke Tenuta, Blake Freeland, Bayron Matos, Jack Wilson

Urgency: Medium

The Colts re-signed Tenuta this week, which is a step in the right direction for an adequate swing tackle battle between him and Freeland, but they can still do better.

GUARD

Quenton Nelson, Matt Goncalves, Dalton Tucker, Josh Sills, Bill Murray, LaDarius Henderson

Urgency: Low

The need here isn't dire since Nelson and Goncalves are the clear-cut starters. Tucker is solid as the third guard, but he's not above bringing in competition for him.

CENTER

Tanor Bortolini, Jimmy Morrissey

Urgency: Medium

The urgency was low recently, with former backup Danny Pinter still available on the free-agent market, but Pinter has since signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Now, the Colts don't have a backup center, and Bortolini has missed time in both of his pro seasons with concussions. Morrissey hasn't played an offensive snap since 2023.

DEFENSIVE END

Laiatu Latu, Arden Key, JT Tuimoloau, Micheal Clemons, Durell Nchami, Viliami Fehoko Jr.

Urgency: High

Key is a solid addition as a third edge rusher, as he's more of a direct replacement for rotational edge Samson Ebukam, who left for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency. Likewise, Clemons replaces Tyquan Lewis. The Colts don't have a replacement yet for Kwity Paye, who started for the Colts for the last five years but just left for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Colts tied for 15th in the NFL with 39 sacks last year, so they needed more juice off the edge to begin with. Anything extra that 2025 second-round pick Tuimoloau can give them versus his nondescript rookie debut would be a plus.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE

DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, Colby Wooden, Adetomiwa Adebawore, Derrick Nnadi, Jerry Tillery, Tim Smith

Urgency: Low

The Colts have paid a ton of attention to their defensive interior and added another piece this week in Tillery. The team's three-technique depth is really good at the moment, but they could use more behind Stewart at one-tech.

LINEBACKER

Akeem Davis-Gaither, Austin Ajiake, Jaylon Carlies, John Bullock, Joseph Vaughn, Devin Veresuk

Urgency: High

The Colts signed Davis-Gaither this week, which is a solid addition of a starting linebacker, either at WILL or MIKE (likely WILL), but they still need one more starter. This draft class is loaded with linebacker talent, so there's a good chance that's where the other starter comes from. However, if they strike out in the draft, there are free-agent options out there, such as current internal free agent Germaine Pratt and Bobby Okereke, who began his career in Indianapolis from 2019-2022.

CORNERBACK

Sauce Gardner, Charvarius Ward Sr., Kenny Moore II, Justin Walley, Cam Taylor-Britt, Mekhi Blackmon, Jaylon Jones, Johnathan Edwards, Cameron Mitchell, Rob Carter Jr., Wyett Ekeler

Urgency: Alright, We Get It

Since hiring Lou Anarumo as their defensive coordinator last offseason, there hasn't been a position on the roster that's gotten more attention than cornerback. The Colts already had a good group on the surface, and then they signed Taylor-Britt and Mitchell this week. However, the Colts are playing it smart for good reason. Last year, they dealt with injuries to Gardner, Ward, Moore, Walley, and Jones, as well as former players JuJu Brents and Mike Hilton. Now, their top nine corners have starting experience. You can't accuse the Colts of sleeping on the cornerback position.

SAFETY

Cam Bynum, Juanyeh Thomas, Hunter Wohler, Jonathan Owens, Reuben Lowery III, Daniel Scott, Trey Washington, Ben Nikkel

Urgency: Low

The Colts lost Nick Cross and Rodney Thomas II in free agency, but they've since been replaced by Thomas and Owens. Plus, the Colts are getting Wohler back from a Lisfranc injury that ended his rookie season before it began last year. He's likely to contribute frequently as a dime linebacker.

KICKER

Blake Grupe, Spencer Shrader

Urgency: None

Shrader is still recovering from tearing multiple knee ligaments in Week 6 last year, which ultimately led the Colts to add Grupe and then re-sign him this offseason. Both players were outstanding, which means the Colts can be confident in whatever kicking situation they face entering the 2026 season.

PUNTER

Rigoberto Sanchez

Urgency: None

Don't mess with a good thing. Sanchez is still setting career bests at this point in his career. His 44.7 net yards per punt and 50.0% rate of punts inside the opponent's 20 in 2025 were both career highs.

LONG SNAPPER

Luke Rhodes

Urgency: None

Sanchez and Rhodes are as solid a snap-hold combo as it gets, and no doubt was a significant factor in Grupe stabilizing his career with his performance last season.

RETURNER

Anthony Gould, Ashton Dulin (kickoffs) |  Anthony Gould, Josh Downs (punts)

Urgency: None

Both Dulin (516) and Gould (647) set new career bests in kickoff return yards last year, and Gould also averaged over 10 yards per punt return.
