Here is how the ColtsRoundtable staff sees the Week 8 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars unfolding.
The Indianapolis Colts (2-5) return to a domain in which they have not left victorious since 2014, despite getting an opportunity each year.
EverBank Stadium is the setting for this week's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2). The Colts have been unsuccessful in their last 11 attempts to beat the Jags on the road, one of which was in London.
Will the Colts finally turn the tide? Their recent spiral into rebuild mode following the departures of general manager Chris Ballard and All-Pros Quenton Nelson and DeForest in the last two weeks would indicate they may be outmatched.
Here is how the ColtsRoundtable staff sees Sunday's game unfolding.
Jake Arthur (@JakeArthurNFL): Jaguars 31, Colts 13
"You certainly don't get better by being without Nelson and Buckner, but the Colts would've been unlikely victors regardless. This is simply a poor matchup in which the Jaguars' weaknesses to do not align with anything the Colts tend to take advantage of on either side of the ball. This would have to be one of those incredibly uncharacteristic days where nothing goes right for the Jaguars and everything breaks the Colts' way.
"As trade rumors surround Jonathan Taylor, this could be his final game with the Colts, thus producing a star effort. Still, he's had over 100 yards from scrimmage in four games this year and the Colts find themselves three games under .500. It helps to have Tyler Warren back in the lineup, but there still aren't any speedsters on the field consistently enough to keep a defense honest.
"The Colts' defense will have the incredibly tough task of handling Trevor Lawrence, Bhayshul Tuten, Parker Washington, Brenton Strange, and more on the Jacksonville offense."
Jake on the season: 3-4
Zach Hicks (@ZachHicks2): Jaguars 38, Colts 20
"The Colts travel to the inferno itself this week to face the Jaguars. Jacksonville has been a house of horrors for the Colts since 2014, and that should be expected to remain true this season.
"Jacksonville boasts an outstanding rushing attack along with an efficient passing offense. Their run defense is also elite, leaving the only avenue to exploit them being through the air. It’s hard to envision the Colts’ inept passing game finding much success though, leading to this massive loss in my prediction."
Zach on the season: 5-2
The Colts take on the Jaguars at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
