The Indianapolis Colts could send a player to the Detroit Lions who may help on the heels of the Terrion Arnold situation.
The Detroit Lions were caught up in one of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason recently when cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested on multiple felonies in Florida.
The Lions ultimately released their 2024 first-round draft pick to relieve themselves of the situation. However, they're now thinner at the cornerback position as a result.
The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly among a handful of teams that have reached out to Arnold's representation to explore signing him, and they may be able to help the Lions recover from letting Arnold go.
Bleacher Report's Moe Moton identified a trade each NFL team could still make at this point in the offseason, with the Colts sending cornerback Jaylon Jones to Detroit in exchange for a 2027 late-round draft pick.
"The Lions waived Terrion Arnold, who, according to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office, is facing multiple felony charges stemming from an alleged February robbery and kidnapping in Tampa," Moton wrote. "They can turn to seven-year pro Rock Ya-Sin, or they can pursue a younger option with more upside.

Mitchell / USA TODAY NETWORK"In 2024, Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones started in 17 games, recording 100 tackles (three for loss), 12 pass breakups and two interceptions while allowing a decent 86 passer rating and just one touchdown in coverage.
"He's fallen on the depth chart with the addition of Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward over the past year," Moton continued. "Jones could blossom with another opportunity to start elsewhere."
The Colts underwent an overhaul at cornerback in the 2023 draft, taking JuJu Brents in the second round, Darius Rush in the fifth round, and Jones in the seventh.
Rush didn't make the roster, Brents' first couple years were plagued by injury and he was let go last summer, but Jones became a surprise starter as a rookie and in 2024 under former defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
Last offseason, the Colts parted with Bradley and hired Lou Anarumo, who overhauled the cornerback group again. Jones was hampered with a hamstring injury for much of the summer and did make the roster, but then reaggravated his hamstring and went on IR for a chunk of the season.
When Jones returned, he was used sparingly despite having started 27 games in his first two years. The scheme fit in the Colts' new defense just wasn't (and still isn't) there.
Still, in over 2,100 career defensive snaps, Jones has surrendered just 60.1% completions when targeted, according to Pro Football Focus, and has 17 pass breakups.
At this point, the Colts have a few no-doubt starters at corner, with Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward Sr. on the outside and Justin Walley in the slot. Johnathan Edwards and Mekhi Blackmon are a pair of young players the Colts are fans of, so Jones falls in line somewhere behind the group, alongside the likes of Cam Taylor-Britt and Cameron Mitchell.
Trading Jones and getting literally anything in return rather than just cutting him during preseason roster cuts, or keeping him on the roster and rarely playing him, would be more beneficial.
