Second Preseason Joint Practice for Washington Commanders Set

The NFL released the 2026 regular season schedule with a chance for the Washington Commanders to begin mapping out the path to the postseason, but the release also included details about the preseason slate with the Baltimore Ravens set to close out the unofficial opening three weeks. One week after the first joint practice was confirmed, a second was also announced on Monday.

The Baltimore Ravens announced that the Commanders will travel to the Under Armour Performance Center in Baltimore for a joint practice on Wednesday, Aug. 26 before the two teams close out the preseason on Friday, Aug. 28.

This marks the second confirmed joint practice for the Commanders after news of a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins broke last week. The two teams are set to meet in the opening week of the preseason, giving the Commanders' first year coordinators a chance to get comfortable against a first year head coach after Jeff Hafley took over this offseason.

The two teams will meet for practice on Wednesday, Aug. 12 before they face each other again at Northwest Stadium for a 7 PM kickoff on Aug. 14.

As for Baltimore, the Ravens will also welcome a new coaching staff after making the seismic move to officially move on from John Harbaugh after 18 seasons as head coach. Former Ravens assistant Jesse Minter, who spent the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers, returned to the East Coast in his first head coaching stint in his career.

Minter will also get another in-depth look at new Commanders edge rusher Odafe Oweh, who found a way to unlock the former first round pick after notching 7.5 sacks in 12 games after being traded from Baltimore. Yet this time, it will be on the opposing sideline with a chance for Oweh to get extra reps against a coaching staff with plenty of familiarity.

Washington will also face the Detroit Lions in week two of the preseason slate, though a date and time have yet to be announced with no word on whether the two teams will also host a joint practice ahead of the game itself.
