The Washington Commanders will officially be without two key starters for the week four international game against the Indianapolis Colts
The Washington Commanders are departing for London today with the week four matchup against the Indianapolis Colts up next on the schedule, but the team will officially be without a handful of key pieces.
Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that both safety Nick Cross and right guard Sam Cosmi did not travel with the team to London, sidelining them for the upcoming international game.
Both players were among the inactives who missed the home opening win against the Seattle Seahawks this past weekend.
Cosmi suffered a concussion in the closing minutes of the week two loss against the Dallas Cowboys, vaulting recent free agent signing Lucas Patrick into the starting rotation at center with Nick Allegretti bumping out to right guard. Cross, meanwhile, suffered an internal injury during the same game that Cosmi went down before being hospitalized following the loss and discharged the following day.
Quinn previously noted on Monday that the Commanders will have three players return to practice this week as quarterback Jayden Daniels, tight end Chig Okonkwo and linebacker Frankie Luvu all make the trip with the team to London. Whether any of the trio ultimately suit up on Sunday remains to be seen as Quinn pointed to practices on Thursday and Friday as the days when the staff will be able to better gauge availability.
The Commanders announced additional roster moves on Tuesday after officially signing veteran running back Austin Ekeler, who is expected to travel to London with the team. The status of Rachaad White remains a question with Quinn pointing to Thursday and Friday's practices as indicative of his eventual game status, paving an opportunity for Ekeler to round out the rotation on Sunday.
Washington also officially announced that linebacker Leo Chenal has been placed on the injured reserve list, while outside linebacker and practice squad addition Marvin Jones Jr. has been placed on the injured list. The team announced the signing of outside linebacker Charles Snowden in his place, giving the Blake High School and St. Albans product a chance to return home. Snowden, a University of Virginia product, began his NFL career with the Chicago Bears before stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. Snowden was suspended for the first three games of the 2026 season due to a DUI.
The Commanders will serve as the home team in this weekend's contest with kickoff against the Colts set for 9:30 AM ET.
