The Washington Commanders got good news on Wednesday afternoon with several players returning to practice following injury

The Washington Commanders got the best injury news possible ahead of week five.

The team announced a trio of players -- cornerback Trey Amos, defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. and running back Jeremy McNichols -- have all returned to practice and their 21 day practice windows have been opened.

It marks a welcomed addition for all three, most notably Amos. What his return to play timeline looks like remains unclear, though it opens the door for the former rookie standout to become a much needed upgrade in the secondary. A former second round pick out of Ole Miss, Amos started in eight of his ten appearances while recording 32 total tackles and six pass deflections, but his rookie season ended early after suffering a fractured fibula in the week ten loss against the Detroit Lions. Amos was also placed on the PUP list prior to training camp, then placed him on injured reserve ahead of the regular season opener after appearing for all of 30 minutes during practice.

Washington has watched Amik Robertson and Rasul Douglas spearhead the top of the cornerback room with Fabian Moreau largely replacing Mike Sainristil in the rotation.
