The Washington Commanders addressed some needs and still have plenty more as we take a look at eight free agents who can still fill needs

The Big Doug and Carmi Show

The Washington Commanders have made a handful of moves through the two days of the legal tampering window with deals set to become official beginning Wednesday. Still, general manager Adam Peters has a long list of roster needs to address this offseason. While the bulk of impact free agents have come off the board, there are still

Jaquan Brisker, Chicago

After a lackluster performance along the backline in 2025 and Daronte Jones pointing to Will Harris as versatile with an impact around the line of scrimmage, whether the Commanders upgrade the safety room hasn't been discussed as a top priority, but there are capable free agents who upgrade the top of the room. Penn State product and former Bears starting safety Jaquan Brisker is a candidate to do exactly that after recording an interception in each of his four seasons along with 21 pass deflections, including eight in 2025. Also strong against the run, Brisker creates pressure as a downhill safety with the expectation he signs with a new team in 2026.

K'Lavon Chaisson, New England

Washington has reportedly still combed through the available pass rush market even after committing $100 million to Odafe Oweh with Chaisson being mentioned among the available free agents. We dove into why the longtime Patriots edge rusher is a perfect fit for Daronte Jones and his system where he would serve as major piece of the puzzle opposite of Oweh. He's coming off a 2025 season where he notched career-highs with 7.5 sacks and 32 pressures along with three sacks in the playoffs en route to a Super Bowl appearance.

Nick Cross, Indianapolis

DMV native and DeMatha grad, Cross joins Brisker as a candidate to upgrade the safety room as he remains available on day three. The Bengals and Patriots have also been discussed as a realistic landing spot for the 24 year old safety, who materialized into the full time starter in 2024. Cross's tackling ability was on full display when he starred at the University of Maryland, a trait that translated to the NFL. He led all safeties in tackles for the bulk of the 2025 regular season before finishing with 120 total tackles, one year after recording 146.

Rasul Douglas, Miami

The cornerback room saw one addition so far with Amik Robertson in the fold, giving position coach William Gay a capable nickel cornerback that can keep Mike Sainristil outside. But Washington is also expected to continue to add to the cornerback room and after whiffing on several targets, including Riq Woolen who will now head to Philadelphia, Douglas serves as a capable candidate as a boundary corner. After bouncing around through his career, Douglas posted a pair of interceptions and 13 pass deflections in 2025 while also generating a forced fumble across 15 games.

Arnold Ebiketie, Atlanta

With edge rusher still a need, Ebiketie is another underrated pass rusher. He posted 36 total tackles and two sacks in 17 games in 2025, though posted six sacks in both 2023 and 2024, though fits as a complementary piece to Oweh. His market has been quiet through two days, though ESPN ranked the projected outside linebacker as the 76th-best overall free agent.

Jauan Jennings, San Francisco

After finishing runner up for both Romeo Doubs and Alec Pierce, Jennings remains available. The 6-foot-3 receiver is coming off a 2025 season where he stepped into an elevated role in an injury-ridden offense as Jennings led the team in receiving touchdowns (9), sat second in receiving yards (643) and ranked third in catches (55) on 90 targets. He finished 25 yards shy of his first 1,000 receiving yard season in 2024 after finishing with six touchdowns. Viewed among the top free agents this offseason, is Jennings now a can't-miss target for Washington?

Chig Okonkwo, Tennessee

Another position of need, one reported candidate quickly came off the board after Isaiah Likely reunited with John Harbaugh on the Giants. As for Okonkwo, the market hasn't been as active. But John Keim of ESPN pointed to Okonkwo as one the Commanders' front office may be higher on than Likely given the larger volume of production in his early career as the former Titans receiving target would add an element that is currently missing in the offense. While Jennings would fill a void, Okonkwo may be as critical if not more than Jennings given the threat he adds to the room.

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay

Washington has a dire, though several running backs already come off the board with Kenneth Walker, Rico Dowdle, Travis Etienne Jr and Kenneth Gainwell all off the board. With all the talk of adding a former teammate of Jayden Daniels in the wide receiver room, White fills that same profile in the running back room. He's coming off a 2025 season where he posted 40 catches for 218 yards while adding another 572 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, adding to the receiving threat that has been lacking in the room despite splitting duties with Bucky Irving at times during the season. Now a free agent for the first time in his career, White could give the unit a needed playmaker in David Blough's offense.
