The Washington Commanders are bringing back another familiar name in 2026 among their batch of additions on offense.
Wide receiver Dyami Brown is signing a one year deal with the Commanders worth up to $3 million, becoming the first wide receiver addition of the offseason. He becomes one of two free agent wide receivers to join the organization after Washington also reportedly signed Van Jefferson, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic, also on a one year deal.
Brown also becomes the second free agent who was initially drafted by Washington to re-join the organization this offseason, joining interior defensive lineman Tim Settle as familiar pieces now back with the organization.
Brown, a 6-foot wide out originally from North Carolina, first arrived in Washington after being drafted with the 82nd overall pick where he became a rotational piece in the wide receiver room. He combined for 476 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 29 catches through his first three seasons before breaking out in 2024 with 308 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 30 catches and 40 targets.
But that would mark the end of his first stint with the organization after inking a one year, $10 million deal that could reach up to $12 million with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In six starts and 11 appearances, Brown finished with just 20 catches for 227 yards and one score in 2025.
As for Van Jefferson, he becomes the latest former Titan to join the organization after the Commanders signed tight end Chig Okonkwo to a three year deal in free agency, while also re-signing wide receiver Treylon Burks to a one year deal.
Van Jefferson is coming off his third team in as many seasons after posting 29 catches for 350 yards and one touchdown in Tennessee during the 2025 season. The year prior, Van Jefferson posted 24 catches for 276 yards and a pair of scores. He split his 2023 season between Atlanta and Los Angeles after recording eight catches for 108 yards in five games with the Rams, then being shipped to the Falcons in a trade involving a draft pick swap.
Now, the 6-foot-1 wide receiver arrives in Washington looking to stretch the field as a downfield threat, similar to Treylon Burks and veteran Terry McLaurin.
Whether it becomes the latest move at the position this offseason is now the biggest question with rumors and speculation swirling about what the 49ers will do with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk now that free agency has officially started, but that may not have a resolution any time soon, leading general manager Adam Peters to find other complementary pieces ahead of a pivotal 2026 season.
