The Washington Commanders officially ruled out defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, while the Philadelphia Eagles will be without a pair of key pieces on offense
The Washington Commanders will enter Sunday night with a largely healthy roster available.
After being held out during the week and trending toward an inactive for the first time this season, defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw has officially been ruled out for the Sunday night meeting against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kinlaw was sidelined due to a knee injury suffered during the week six loss against the San Francisco 49ers, ruling him out midway through the game in the latest blow to the defensive line's depth.
Yet the Commanders may be able to replenish Newton's role in the rotation as defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton looks to make his season debut. After tearing his pectoral muscle during preseason, the Commanders began the week by opening his 21 day practice window with Newton listed as questionable on the team's injury report released on Friday.
Newton is one of four Commanders to draw the questionable tag alongside tight end John Bates, wide receiver Treylon Burks and defensive tackle Daron Payne. The latter marked a surprise after being listed as limited in Friday's practice with a foot injury, the first time the veteran has drawn an injury tag all week. Payne also found himself among the top trade candidates across the NFL earlier in the week with the week eight primetime divisional matchup a chance for the rest of the depth to step up in his absence.
Bates has been sidelined through the week before being limited with a shoulder injury in Friday's practice. Burks, meanwhile, was limited on both Wednesday and Friday as he battles back from the foot injury suffered in the fourth quarter against the Niners. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs, meanwhile, was a full participant the rest of the week, as expected, after drawing a rest day on Wednesday.
The Eagles, however, will enter Sunday short-handed after ruling out both wide receivers Dontayvion Wicks and DeVonta Smith, leaving rookie Makai Lemon to shoulder the load in the room amid questions surrounding a passing attack led by Tanner McKee. He will have a key piece to lean on with running back Saquon Barkley available to play after battling through hamstring and back injuries ahead of the matchup. Barkley was not spotted at practice by Eagles' media through the week until Friday, leaving a question as to how healthy he will be for week eight.
The Eagles also ruled out linebacker Jihaad Campbell, wide receiver Britain Covey and cornerback Jonathan Jones.
Kickoff is set for 8:20 PM ET.
