Washington Commanders offensive lineman Josh Conerly is set to host his first camp in Seattle on Friday
Washington Commanders offensive lineman Josh Conerly is back in his hometown giving back on Friday.
The second year right tackle is set to host a free youth camp and community day at Rainer Beach High School, his alma mater, in hopes of giving back to the community. Conerly is also hosting an autograph session following the two-hour camp as the Seattle, WA native knows giving back to the community was a no-brainer.
He isn't the first offensive lineman to do so after Brandon Coleman also held a high-level camp back in Germany in late June, but the chance for Conerly to be a role model made its mark.
"I have six younger siblings and the majority of my family still lives in Seattle so really just setting the standard and wanting to be a great role model," he said in a local interview.
On the field as he leans on Laremy Tunsil fresh off a new contract, Josh Conerly arrived for offseason workouts last month in better shape, but not at a much different weight than his listed 315 pounds. The former first round pick in last year's draft admitted that he made nutrition his focus this offseason after "eating a lot cleaner, eating a little less," but that he also kept some things the same.
Conerly was among the Commanders' offensive linemen who joined Laremy Tunsil to workout down in Alabama where the veteran tackle previously pointed it as a period that tests mental focus in order to develop.
"Protein for lunch and breakfast, no carbs for dinner, supplements every day. It's a routine we have to live by to change our body," Tunsil said.
Yet the signs of Conerly taking those steps extend beyond the field after Tunsil also noted "how hungry he is" heading into his year two. While Conerly looks to become the future piece along the offensive line with Tunsil to look up to, an offense that could feature more screens than 2025 makes sense for the starting right tackle to focus on being an athletic piece along the unit.
The focus could also spark more consistency after 2025 proved to be a tale of two seasons. After giving up six sacks and 28 pressures through his first eight NFL games, Conerly then gave up just two sacks and 15 pressures the rest of the way to validate the draft pick. He also ended the 2025 season as the only starter along the offensive line to play 100% of the snaps while accounting for five penalties over the final eight games.
