The Cowboys have addressed several needs in free agency, but one has to be filled in the coming months, and in Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock, they do it.

The Dallas Cowboys' free agency plan has seen the franchise add some quality pieces for Christian Parker.

With safety and corner now improved, there remain two positions of need that haven't been touched yet.

One is a pass rusher, the other is a linebacker.

And you can make the case that linebacker is by far the most pressing need.

With DeMarvion Overshown, Shemar James, and Marist Liufau as options for Parker, there needs to be more added to the room.

We have mentioned Bobby Wagner as an option, as well as New York Giants team captain Bobby Okereke.

But it doesn't feel like the Cowboys are motivated to land a veteran free agent.

And that leads us to think the franchise might target it in the draft.

With two first-round picks, it is certainly an option.

And in Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest mock draft for ESPN, he has Dallas taking Georgia linebacker CJ Allen at No. 20.

"It'd be wise for the Cowboys to double-dip on defense (Jermod McCoy at No. 12)," Kiper Jr wrote. "They gave up 6.1 yards per play in 2025, 31st in the NFL and third worst for any team in any of the past five seasons. Allen can play all three downs, as he can drop in coverage, run down ball carriers and even blitz. He had 97 tackles last season for the Bulldogs, showcasing tremendous read-and-react skills."

McCoy's injury issues - the Tennessee corner sat out all year with a knee problem - create a problem here.

On Allen, though?

There is plenty to like about Allen, but what Cowboys fans might like the most is his high football IQ and his tackling ability.

Once he has his hands on you as a runner, it's over.

Plus, with the Cowboys' defense getting routinely gashed last season, Allen's ability to diagnose the play and then react is second to none.

Once he understands what is happening, he gets downhill quickly to shut the play down.

He ticks a lot of boxes. Tough, smart, a good tackler, and able to fly from sideline to sideline.

Needing someone to wear the green dot, I'm not sure Allen, in his rookie season, would be that sort of player, so Dallas might have to look at a veteran option.

But this is the NFL, so never say never, and having Allen alongside Overshown is an interesting prospect for Cowboys fans to think about.
