The Dallas Cowboys’ 30-year Super Bowl drought ends … tonight?

Not exactly, but NFL history mandates that the Cowboys must beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football if they want to play in Super Bowl LXI in Los Angeles on Valentine’s Day.

Super Bowl champions have started a season 0-2 (1993 Cowboys), endured three-game losing streaks (five teams), and even lost their last three regular-season games (2009 New Orleans Saints). But in the history of pro football, a team never began a season with a record of 2-5 and went on to lift the Lombardi Trophy.

The Cowboys enter tonight’s do-or-die game at Lincoln Field at 2-4.

The worst start through seven games for a Super Bowl champion was 3-4, authored by Tom Brady’s 2001 New England Patriots.

At 2-5 and with a loss to the Eagles’ JV, the calls for head coach Schottenheimer’s job would grow louder. And the odds of the Cowboys ending their Super Bowl drought would completely vanish.

Date: Monday, Oct. 26

Odds: Both of these teams are 2-4 so far this season. Tonight's MNF odds favor the Dallas Cowboys over the Philadelphia Eagles by 4.5 points, as the Eagles will continue to play without QB Jalen Hurts. Hurts has been sidelined for the foreseeable future due to deep vein thrombosis and several blood clots in his lungs.

The Eagles are also without both starting wide receivers but are hoping to get running back Saquon Barkley back in the lineup.
