Mingo has stacked good days of production in Oxnard, and maybe we are finally going to see him regularly in 2026.

The Dallas Cowboys' receiver room behind CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Ryan Flournoy is a hotly contested battle.

We have Marquez Valdes-Scantling, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo, Traeshon Holden, and Anthony Smith as the ones competing for snaps, but we are focusing our attention on Mingo.

We all remember that midseason trade for Mingo back in 2024, but we have hardly seen him on the field.

The "Mingo Package" has now become a Mike Fisher-driven punchline for the Cowboys, with the receiver playing just 80 offensive snaps in 2025 and having one catch for 25 yards in Brian Schottenheimer's first year as head coach/play-caller.

But now, Mingo is making some good progress in Oxnard, stacking good days and making plays, with a 30-yard reception from Joe Milton the highlight.

And Schottenheimer has liked what he's seen from the receiver in Oxnard.

"I think Jonathan's had a really good camp," Schottenheimer said. "I think he's playing with more confidence. We've challenged him to be able to move him around more, and I think he's done a good job with that.

"So I think he has a better understanding of the entire landscape of our scheme and learning the X, the Z, and the F position. We obviously love his traits, but what I'm seeing from Jonathan is a very consistent, positive camp."

With the battle for roster spots heating up, and if we have the top four receiver spots locked (Turpin moonlighting as WR4), then Mingo is in a tough battle with MVS and others if Dallas only wants to carry five receivers.

Having been with the team for over a year now, Mingo appears to be in the best place, both mentally and physically, since he became a Cowboy, and the proof is what he's putting on tape in practice.

Likely to see some preseason action with the Cowboys not playing key starters, the former Baylor star could be a headliner in Saturday night's preseason opener at Seattle.

If Mingo can continue to stack good days and make plays in preseason games, he might be seen as an offensive piece Dallas can use in 2026.

Of course, we are a long way away from that right now, but Mingo has made a good start to camp, and he's all gas, no brakes, looking for his chance to contribute to the offense.

We might actually see the Mingo package in 2026, folks.
