Despite five consecutive Pro Bowl nods, Dallas’ star playmaker tumbled to No. 60 in a controversial new ranking, sparking debate over his perceived value among NFL elites.

For most NFL teams, having a top-10 player at his position is enough to build an offense around. For the Dallas Cowboys, they don't just have a guy that's top 10, but one who many believe is top five in star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

That's why his placement in CBS Sports' annual Top 100 NFL Players rankings raised plenty of eyebrows.

Pete Prisco ranked Lamb at No. 60 overall entering the 2026 season, placing the Cowboys' No. 1 receiver well behind several players many would argue have accomplished less. While rankings are always subjective, seeing Lamb outside the top 50 feels surprisingly low for a player who has consistently been one of the NFL's most productive pass catchers.

Even in a 2025 season that wasn't perfect, Lamb still proved how valuable he is to Dallas' offense.

Injuries limited him to just 13 starts this past season, yet he still surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the fifth straight season while earning another Pro Bowl selection.

Lamb has already established himself as one of the NFL's most complete receivers. He wins on deep routes, creates separation underneath, makes contested catches, and remains dangerous after the catch. Few receivers possess the versatility to line up anywhere in the formation while commanding constant double teams.

Yet 59 players were viewed as more valuable entering the season.

With a healthier roster and more stability around him, Lamb has every opportunity to remind the league why he has long been mentioned alongside the NFL's elite. He has already proven he can carry an offense when called upon, and his combination of route running, hands, and explosiveness remains among the best in football.

Rankings like these often provide extra motivation, even for established stars. Whether Lamb pays attention publicly or not, it's hard to imagine No. 60 accurately reflecting his impact on the field.

If he returns to the level Cowboys fans have grown accustomed to, don't be surprised if this ranking looks outdated by the middle of the season. For Dallas, the belief hasn't changed. They still have one of football's premier offensive weapons, regardless of where one offseason list places him.
