The Cowboys have come under fire for their recent performances, leading many barbs to be aimed at the head coach.
When things are going well, the head coach gets the plaudits; when they don't, they get the criticism, and that is what Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is going through right now.
The offense was rolling early in the year, but in the past two weeks, it has stumbled, and with Schottenheimer being the head coach and the play-caller, the buck starts and stops with him.
As such, the criticism coming Schottenheimer's way has been intense, and a 2-4 start to the year, plus the poor offensive performances, has justified that criticism.
But everyone deals with this level of criticism in various ways.
For receiver CeeDee Lamb, having been with the franchise for years, he's no stranger to the intense talk, shall we say, surrounding the team.
But how has Schottenheimer, who from the outside, is putting on a brave face, handled it?
"Honestly, just keeping everything in-house," Lamb said. "I feel like that's probably the main message that he's given us. When we're winning, you guys [media] are going to be our biggest advocates, and when we lose then, we going to hear about it.
"I don't take it personal. I feel like a lot of people are saying a lot of things that a lot of other people are thinking. It comes with the game
“This is not to him. Don't be sensitive, obviously, but just don't read into it. Don't believe it. If you do believe it, let's change it."
And Lamb is right.
Everyone loves you when things are going well, and the reserve happens when the team loses.
So, you have to take it with a grain of salt, which for some is easier said than done, and in truth, that is part and parcel of playing for the Cowboys.
Some can handle the spotlight. Some can't.
Right now, it is the most "intense" it has been in the Schottenheimer era, and if Dallas doesn't walk into Lincoln Financial Field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night and walk out with a win, that criticism leveled at Schottenheimer will only increase.
Lamb has been through it and made it out the other side.
Will Schottenheimer?
