It appears that Durant has a singular focus for Christian Parker's defense.

New Dallas Cowboys corner Cobie Durant is saying all the right things as he adjusts to life in the NFC East.

With Durant being signed from the Los Angeles Rams, a place where he played four seasons, and totaled 39 starts in 61 games while grabbing seven interceptions. He also has another four in the postseason. He comes to The Star as a key piece for Christian Parker.

The defense last season was horrific by any measure, and as such, the focus this offseason has been on overhauling the defense Matt Eberflus led.

For Durant, he comes to The Star knowing the task at hand in turning around what was one of the worst defenses in football last season.

That is no small task, might I add.

But during a conference call with reporters, Durant offered some insight into his motive for the 2026 season.

And I think Cowboys Nation will love it.

"Defense wins championships, offense sells tickets," Durant said via The Athletic's Jon Machota. "Just get the ball back to Dak Prescott is my new motive. I don't have to be no superhero. Just go out there and be me. Play 11 as one."

That is exactly what fans want to hear.

With the offense led by Dak Prescott, one of the best in football last season, the defense hardly held up its end of the bargain.

When it did? Dallas beat the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs in consecutive weeks. So it shows what the offense can do when it has a little help.

So that appears to be Durant's main goal.

Play sound defense, and get the ball back to Dak and the offense.

That sounds simple enough.

Last season, the Cowboys' defense had just 12 turnovers in 17 games. Dallas had a -9 turnover differential, and that isn't a great place to be.

As such, the free agency plan has been to improve the secondary, with Durant coming in, so too PJ Locke and Jalen Thompson, to add to the room with DaRon Bland and Shavon Revel Jr.

We often hear about Dallas' "motto" at the beginning of the offseason, and Durant might have already confirmed it.

Get the ball back to Dak.
