You hear that? That's the sound of everyone's mock drafts being compiled as the Dallas Cowboys' season virtually came to an end Sunday night in a 34-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
At 6-7-1, the Cowboys, even if they were to make the postseason, would be fool's gold - they aren't a playoff team.
Yes, there was a thrillingly successful three-week stretch, but outside of that, this team hasn't been very good, and Sunday night on national TV, it all came to a head.
With the chance of making the playoffs next to zero despite three games remaining, how the locker room approaches the final stretch will tell us about this team's mentality.
But based on his remarks, one person you don't have to worry about in terms of approach is Dak Prescott.
And make no mistake about it, despite the unfortunate position, he says there won't be any quit from him.
“Unfortunately, I'm sure the playoffs are out of the picture,'' said Dak in a brutally honest take. "But it's about taking pride in who you are as a man, and not only that, and your job and everything that's gotten you to this point.''
So, Dallas is playing for pride.
But one could make the case: So, where was that "pride'' with the season on the line against Minnesota?
The offensive line was torched by the Vikings' pressure. So too was the Cowboys' defense by a quarterback in JJ McCarthy, who had a career-high 250 passing yards. The defense reverted to being one of the league's worst units, and George Pickens again had a quiet night.
Oh, and again ... the season was on the line, too.
We will know see how coach Brian Schottenheimer and his coaches navigate these next three weeks, because with nothing to play for, there will be those who are eager to see any moves made with 2026 in mind -- say, what the team does with Trevon Diggs.
Dallas had playoff hope, but it was squashed by the Vikings, and now, we are about to see exactly how prideful this locker room really is.
Oh, and by the way: As of right now, the Cowboys have the No. 14 and No. 23 picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
