The Cowboys' head coach was unusually short and brief in his post-game press conference, with his quarterback perhaps shedding light on the reason why.
The Dallas Cowboys managed just their third win of the season, beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 at Lincoln Financial Field on Monday night.
But while the win was the good part of the night, there was an odd situation post-game.
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who usually offers lengthy and cooperative answers in press conferences, was short, and the entire media session lasted only four minutes.
That is very odd.
With many coming at Schottenheimer in the past two weeks due to his play-calling and the offense just looking bad, maybe his short press conference was a sign that the head coach just wasn't interested in talking.
Or, maybe his feelings are hurt regarding media criticism after last week announcing that he considers himself to be "elite'' as a coach and play-caller.
Could this coach be that thin-skilled?
For Dak Prescott, he saw a different version of Schottenheimer this week, and maybe that is what we saw at the podium.
"Definitely hungry, pissed-off version of Schotty," Prescott said. "It's not like he hadn't heard some noise about him, whether it's calling games or the doubt that been out there.
"But we've got his back, he knows that. He's a guy that takes a lot of pride in his job, a lot of pride in his team. Everybody handles everything different so I don't blame him to an extent. We've got his back more importantly, and it's about us going out there and executing on Sundays."
There's no denying that the pressure was building on Schottenheimer, who is now 10-13-1 as a head coach.
To the extent that if the Cowboys had lost to the injury-ravaged Eagles and dropped to 2-5, there were some who thought Jerry Jones might pull the trigger and move on from him.
So, while the win was much needed, the Cowboys are 3-4, and it keeps the wolves at bay for another week.
Up next are the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium, a team that has a history of embarrassing the Cowboys, so this relief that the team is feeling might be short-lived.
Either way, it is clear that the gravity of the situation might have just dawned on Schottenheimer, and maybe at a time like this, less is more when it comes to his press conferences.
Bank the win, and move on.
And it appears Schottenheimer has already done that.
