Cowboys linebacker Demarvion Overshown is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and he's just made a decision that will make fans a little nervous.
The Dallas Cowboys' offseason has been a rather positive one, with the NFL Draft now over, as the franchise saw Caleb Downs fall into their laps as the crowning moment.
We then have All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey signing his new contract, making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history. George Pickens is reportedly signing his franchise tag, which means two key players have their futures sorted.
That is un-Cowboys like.
But if fans thought that Dallas and contract sagas with super agent David Mulugheta might be over, well, we've got bad news.
With Mulugheta representing Micah Parsons and Pickens, now, we can add linebacker DeMarvion Overshown to the list.
Ahead of a defining final season of his rookie deal, "Agent 0" has switched agencies and now he'll be represented by one of the most powerful agents in sports.
So, what does this mean?
Well, the Cowboys won't be getting a discount for an injury-prone player, for one, as Mulugheta will be looking to get full value for his new client.
So, what sort of deal could Dallas be looking at for a player that, before his last injury, looked every part an All-Pro linebacker (that pick-six against the Giants, whew)?
Some have suggested a three-year, $24 million deal that would give Overshown $8 million APY, which would put him in the middle of the pack.
Now, Overshown has had a horror run with injuries since arriving at The Star in 2023, having played just 19 games. But in those 19 games, he showed what he is all about.
A heat-seeking missile who runs sideline to sideline in a flash, he's a potential Pro Bowler, if not more if the injury bug stays away.
But as is the case, at least recently, it isn't the APY money players worry about; it's the total guarantees, so the Cowboys can look for something in the range of possibly $20 million in guarantees on a proposed contract.
In truth, Overshown will likely need to have a stellar, nearly All-Pro season to warrant big money in the offseason, but we know Mulugheta will still be pushing for it.
So, for Cowboys fans who thought they might not have to deal with another potential contract saga involving the super agent, one might be coming down the pipeline in the next 12 months.
