The Cowboys are in need of defensive starters in the draft, and one player has divided opinion.
Most know that the Dallas Cowboys' two first-round picks, if everything goes right, will be used on two defensive players to overhaul Christian Parker's defense.
But which two players the Cowboys could/should take is a topic of much debate.
The likes of Sonny Styles, Mansoor Delane, Rueben Bain Jr., Caleb Downs, and David Bailey have been mentioned as possible players the franchise could select.
Although half of those players will likely be taken prior to Dallas' first pick at No. 12.
But there is one player whose name has popped up regularly, sparking a tense debate among Cowboys Nation.
And that is Tennessee corner, Jermod McCoy.
Having not played since 2024 due to an ACL injury, when we have seen McCoy mocked to Dallas, many are unsure of what to expect from Jermod, having not played for so long.
And CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer has named McCoy, who has the biggest risk/reward of any player in the draft.
"Jermod McCoy was a talented prospect and one of the better corners in the country in 2024 but missed the entire 2025 season rehabbing a torn ACL," Brockermeyer wrote.
"He had a really impressive workout for scouts this week. Taking any player in the first round after missing a full season carries risk, but if his medicals check out -- and it appears they did -- and his change-of-direction ability holds, he could be a steal.
"It's possible he needs time to adjust to NFL speed, but it's also possible he's fully healthy and ready to go on Day 1."
We hear Jerry Jones' "no redshirts" comment ringing in our ears, but will McCoy's pro day performance shift his mind?
ESPN Draft analyst Matt Miller stated that, based on feedback from teams, McCoy's pro day performance puts him back in the running to be the best corner in the draft.
That is some statement.
So it appears that the lingering doubts over his health have been put to bed, at least a little, after being put through his paces at his pro day.
Oh, and he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, too.
So the Cowboys, while they want Day 1 starters, that initially took McCoy out of the running due to the health concerns.
But now? According to Miller, he could be a lock to go inside the top 12, which is exactly where the Cowboys have their first pick.
Should the Cowboys take a chance on McCoy?
