Will star cornerback Jermod McCoy slip through the Cowboys' grasp? Two insiders reveal why a coveted prospect might be off Dallas' radar.
The Dallas Cowboys' first-round draft plans remain a major topic of debate among fans and the media.
With two first-round selections at No. 12 and No. 20, who the Cowboys could draft remains a mystery.
Given the needs for Christian Parker's defense, one can safely assume that both selections will be made with the intention of getting Parker two Day 1 starters.
But who?
Well, Dallas' list of 30 visit points us in the general direction of who the franchise could select.
Nick Harris, of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, compiled the list of players the Cowboys have confirmed visits with.
As expected, most are defensive players the Cowboys could select; on the list are Arvell Reese, David Bailey, Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs, and Mansoor Delane.
But Harris dropped an interesting nugget of information on one player many want the Cowboys to draft, who wasn't a 30 visit -- Tennessee corner Jermod McCoy.
"Of note, commonly mocked to the Cowboys, CB Jermod McCoy, was not among the 30 visitors," Harris wrote. "The Star-Telegram reported after the NFL Combine that he is not expected to be in play for the Cowboys because of his injury history, and that remains the expectation following his Pro Day."
This tracks with what our own Mike Fisher has consistently reported for weeks.
Said Fish recently: I have reported and continue to believe that the Cowboys would like to go in a different direction at No. 12 due to CB McCoy injury history. We shall see ...''
With owner Jerry Jones stating " no redshirts," citing that the Cowboys can't afford to draft a player who will sit out a large portion of the offseason or regular season, as Shavon Revel Jr. did last year, that ruled out McCoy to Dallas.
With McCoy not having played since 2024 due to his ACL injury, all eyes were on his Pro Day, where he showed no signs of rust as he went about impressing those in attendance.
Now, maybe Dallas is bluffing by hiding their sincere interest.
And if that's the case? They're doing a darn good job of it.
So, for all of those mock drafts that have the Cowboys taking McCoy at No. 12? know that right now, according to Fisher and Harris, there is not much interest from Dallas in taking the otherwise-talented Tennessee corner.
