FRISCO - Back before the Dallas Cowboys moved to Frisco and The Star, I could marry a controversial Jerry Jones policy with the name of the former headquarters to offer up a poetic nickname for it all.
“Second-Chance Valley Ranch,” I called it.
The NFL is still very much about that … as established by a recent move by the Super Bowl champs.
It was no secret that the Seattle Seahawks were going to face an uphill climb in free agency, as the champs were destined to lose more big-name players than they'd sign.
That, as much as anything, is a compliment to the roster that GM John Schneider built.
Among those who were destined to move on? Coby Bryant, Kenneth Walker, Boye Mafe, and Riq Woolen all landing with new teams.
And who is coming in? The Seahawks closed up the first week of NFL free agency by adding a compelling (and lengthy) name. … and one that is familiar in Cowboys Nation.
Last weekend it was learned that Noah Igbinoghene, a former first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins, had agreed to a one-year contract with Seattle.
Igbinoghene (pronounced "ig-bin-AH-ghen-ee'') is the fifth corner on the Seahawks roster as he joins Devon Witherspoon, Josh Jobe, Nehemiah Pritchett and Shemar Jean-Charles.
Witherspoon and Jobe can hold down the fort in the secondary, no doubt. But depth was needed.
Can Igbinoghene compete for a roster spot in Seattle?
His time in Dallas doesn’t do much to help his case.
Igbinoghene was a star at Auburn before entering the NFL at the tender age of 20 as a Dolphins first-round pick in 2020. He never quite caught on, and in 2023 he was trade-dumped to the Cowboys.
How low was that bar? That deal moved Kelvin Joseph to Miami, as the rapper/cornerback - “BossMan Fat” - was very much a second-round bust in Dallas.
Joseph’s most notable headline while here? He was investigated in a murder case. (Yes, really.)
Joseph is now out of the NFL and fully free to pursue his rap career.
And Noah? He did have one moment of glory here as he scored a TD on a blocked field goal return in his Cowboys debut against the New York Giants.
But he rarely got on the field that year as a cornerback.
Igbinoghene did become a part-time starter with the Commanders in 2024, but in 2025 he made only two starts all season.
He's got one career interception and it was a game-winner when he was with the Dolphins in 2022.
But otherwise? No real impact.
Igbinoghene (5-11, 197) is still just 26 years old. So there are plenty of reasons for him to continue to plug away at a fruitful NFL career ... an effort that begins anew for him now in Seattle, where as in Dallas they also believe in “second chances.”
Especially when the roster shows a need for a cornerback.
