The Cowboys haven't done what they said they would do in free agency, leading to frustration from fans. But Jerry Jones' latest comment will infuriate Cowboys Nation.

As things stand, the Dallas Cowboys' free agency plans can be met with a casual shoulder shrug.

The team missed out on several targets early in free agency despite "trying" to get them across the line.

Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson and Cobie Durant are the big additions, but the franchise also said goodbye to Osa Odighizuwa, traded away for draft capital.

But there has been no "bust the budget" move as of yet - not in terms of a home-run get - and indeed, in the minds of Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, maybe they have already "busted" the budget because they are indeed paying Gary and Thompson real money.

And we don't know what the mental ceiling was on Dallas' spending.

Of course, Jerry knew what he was doing when he said "bust the budget.'' Just as he did with "all-in.''

They are attention-grabbing slogans. And we all grabbed.

Fans expected more, and so far, Dallas has underwhelmed many in free agency.

But is Jerry happy with how things have gone?

"Yes," Jerry told the Associated Press via Jon Machota. "I think we're within the boundaries of what we have available, what we're trying to accomplish with draft picks and with (salary) cap. I wouldn't try to re-visit or try to re-do what we've done on either that cap or the trades we've made.

"I like what we got."

That likely won't land well with Cowboys Nation.

Neither will Jerry's other notable comment.

“We’re pretty far down the road relative to what our plans are," he said when asked about a potential trade for Maxx Crosby.

That's meant to be a "no.''

Cowboys Nation will keep waiting to see if the Cowboys put more of their salary cap money where their mouth is. ... hoping "I like what we got'' is something to build on rather than an indication that we're at some sort of roster-building finish line.
