Pickens understands why the Giants defender said what he said, but he doesn't feel the same way.

We are nearing the Sunday night kickoff for the Dallas Cowboys to get their season started against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, and the verbal back-and-forth is fully underway.

With Giants corner Greg Newsome II saying he thinks New York has the best corner group in the league, that is certainly high praise.

But in doing so, might have put a target on his teammates' back.

Oh, and there is a small matter of coming up against one of the best receiver duos in football, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, in Week 1.

Curtailing both is a tough ask, and now that Newsome has put that out there, teams will want to prove him wrong.

As for Pickens and his thoughts on Newsome's comments, well, it is fair to say George doesn't exactly feel the same.

"Yeah, that's definitely how he should feel," Pickens said. "Now, how we should feel, I'd definitely probably say a completely different story. But that's cool that he definitely thinks that, that's cool how he thinks like that.

"I feel like he should definitely feel like that, but I feel like we're definitely not thinking the same thing."

In truth, the Cowboys' receiver duo will fancy their chances against any defense in the league, and so they should.

Both surpassed 1,000 yards last season, and each had at least 75 receptions, so Dak Prescott looked their way often.

And expect the same on Sunday night: if the Cowboys are to win, George and CeeDee will play a big role, so the Giants will have their hands full trying to stop both.

Of course, it is Week 1, so there is a little unknown about both teams, and yes, we have an idea of how Dallas will roll out on offense and New York on defense, but there will be wrinkles that neither team can prepare for.

With plenty of storylines to follow on Sunday night, now the number one is seeing how Newsome and his defense fare against two of the best receivers in football.

It is all good and well to state that you think you have the best cornerback room in football, but you then have to go out and back it up.

Which, against a talented Cowboys offense, might be a seriously hard task to complete.
