Former New England Patriot Stefon Diggs has posed a question to each NFL team, and it is one that the Cowboys have the ideal answer to.
It is no secret, as we sit here waiting for training camp, that the Dallas Cowboys boast one of, if not the best, receiver tandems in football.
CeeDee Lamb is a perennial Pro Bowler and All-Pro who has five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. And then there is George Pickens, who is coming off a career year, posting 1,429 yards and 9 TDs from 93 receptions.
So, I'll put those two up against any other receiver duo in football, and I'd like my chances.
But that brings us to former New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs and his recent comments on his YouTube channel.
Diggs is coming off a 1,013 yard, 4-TD season in New England as he had a good bounce-back season.
But it wasn't Pickens-level good.
And Diggs, who is currently without a team after the Patriots chose not to bring him back, made a rather interesting comment about being a No. 2 receiver for a team this upcoming season.
"My opinion, I can compete with anybody," Diggs said. "But take those as your ones. Right. You can't name a number two better than me. There's not a number two on a team, like let's presumably give people the credit to just say okay you want to take the number one spot away, name your number two receiver right now right and tell me how much he makes and then my last question is is he better than me?"
Well, Stefon, this one is easy.
Pickens is on the franchise tag for $27.3 million, and right now, absolutely, he is a better receiver than you are. Argue with a wall.
You could even go so far as to say that most NFL teams, if they had to choose between Pickens and Diggs for 2026, would go with George. Well, I think they would anyway.
After the year Pickens had, he has established himself among the best in football, but he's got to prove he can do it again. That is where Diggs has the edge. He's been a good receiver for years.
But the off-field issues that have arisen mean that here we are in July, and Stefon isn't on an NFL team. That tells you all you need to know.
So, to answer Diggs' question, yes, there is a No. 2 receiver better than you: George Pickens, and honestly, he's probably better than some No. 1 receivers, too.
