The Hall of Famer’s son, DeMarcus Ware Jr., is sparking a recruiting frenzy as Colorado and several major programs scramble to land the versatile Southlake Carroll standout.

For the Dallas Cowboys, few names carry as much weight on defense as DeMarcus Ware. The franchise’s all-time sacks leader built a legacy in Dallas before earning a gold jacket and cementing himself among football’s all-time greats.

Now, a new generation of the Ware family is beginning to attract attention — and college programs are already taking notice.

According to recent reports, Colorado has extended an early scholarship offer to DeMarcus Ware Jr., the son of the former Cowboys superstar. The younger Ware, a member of the 2029 recruiting class, is already drawing interest despite being years away from making a college decision.

DeMarcus Ware Jr. currently plays at powerhouse Southlake Carroll High School in Texas, where he has seen action as both a linebacker and offensive player. Standing around 6 feet tall with time to continue developing physically, recruiters appear eager to establish relationships early.

Colorado’s offer reportedly became his fourth scholarship opportunity, joining schools like SMU, UTSA, and Arkansas State in pursuing the young prospect. The Buffaloes’ recruiting pitch makes some sense considering coach Deion Sanders has emphasized NFL connections throughout his program.

Still, for Cowboys fans, the bigger takeaway may simply be seeing the Ware name continue in football circles.

The elder Ware remains one of the most dominant pass rushers Dallas has ever produced. Across nine seasons with the Cowboys, he became the franchise’s career sacks leader and earned multiple All-Pro selections before eventually winning a Super Bowl later in his career. His impact was so significant that fans still regularly describe him as one of the greatest defenders to wear the star.

Whether Ware Jr. eventually follows his father toward a defensive path — or carves out something entirely different — remains unknown. Recruiting at this stage is more about projection than certainty.

But one thing is clear: when the last name is Ware, football programs are going to pay attention.

Cowboys fans have watched one generation build a Hall of Fame résumé. Years from now, they may get the chance to see whether another member of the family writes his own chapter.

And if he decides to go with the Buffaloes to start his college career, he would be playing for yet another Cowboys defensive superstar.
