Logan Wilson was acquired via trade midseason, but the Cowboys veteran hasn't seen the field much under Matt Eberflus.

The Dallas Cowboys were active at the trade deadline with coach Brian Schottenheimer's team desperate for defensive reinforcements.

They came in the form of defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson.

Both were seen as good moves at the time, with an eye on helping for 2025 and beyond.

But over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that while Quinnen is a star - he made the Pro Bowl - Wilson might not be a sure thing to return in 2026.

He didn't play a single snap against the Washington Commanders in Dallas' 30-23 win, with rookie Shemar James partnering Kenneth Murray for the entirety of the game.

Where that leaves Wilson is ... on the outs, according to our Cowboys insider Mike Fisher.

"You can't sit out entire games and be healthy and age and feel good about it,'' Fish reports. "I'd say he has no future here.''

Indeed, for Michael Ginnitti of Spotrac.com, Wilson is a prime candidate to be released in the offseason.

“Wilson was acquired from Cincinnati at the deadline for a 7th round pick, hoping to offer a shot in the arm to a position that was vulnerable through much of 2025,” Ginnitti wrote. “While the 2 years, $13.7M remaining on the contract isn’t terribly daunting, Dallas likely opts for the early March cap space and attempts to rebuild the off-ball linebacker position from the ground up this spring. Releasing Wilson frees up $6.5M of space.”

This isn't out of the realm of possibility, and it is clear that the Cowboys didn't have a use for the veteran against Washington.

Another thing is that Wilson will have no dead cap money in 2026, so that could play into it.

Thought to be a little upgrade over what Dallas had at the linebacker position, Wilson couldn't overtake Murray, who, by most estimations, shouldn't even be on the field.

So, if Logan can't overtake Kenneth, then there's a problem.

Shemar getting all the snaps in Washington could be a sign that this Cowboys dart throw missed.

A complete defensive overhaul is likely coming this offseason, and maybe one of the first moves made will be to part ways with Wilson.
