It was a career-best season for Javonte with the Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys' offense was one of the best units in football in Brian Schottenheimer's first year as head coach/offensive play-caller.
One big reason was George Pickens obliterating defenses in the passing game alongside CeeDee Lamb.
The other was running back Javonte Williams, giving the Cowboys a top-10 run game.
Seen as a bargain buy in free agency at just $3 million for one year, not much was expected of Williams, who was dumped by the Denver Broncos.
Injury and inconsistent form saw the move for Williams be a dart throw at best.
But goodness me, what a dart throw it was.
Javonte would have a career-best season in Dallas, rushing for 1,201 yards and 11 TDs, serving as the driving force behind the Cowboys' complementary offense when things were rolling.
For PFF's Bradley Locker, it is an easy choice deciding who was the Cowboys' best free agent signing last offseason.
"The Cowboys’ offense dominated throughout 2025, with the team’s run game jumping to fourth in rushing success rate. Williams’ arrival is no accident in that," Locker wrote.
"The former Bronco looked rejuvenated with an 81.7 PFF rushing grade, 54 missed tackles forced and 3.56 yards after contact per attempt. Now, the 25-year-old is well-positioned for a more lucrative deal in 2026."
Now, attention turns to Williams' contract situation and how quickly it can be sorted out.
With Cowboys COO Stephen Jones already stating that the team wants Williams on a multi-year deal, the exact price attached to that remains unknown.
But if we are being honest, it likely won't be anything less than $6 million APY, right?
Say, a three-year, $21 million deal or something similar could be enough to get the deal over the line.
With our own Mike Fisher stating the Cowboys' 2026 vision for the run game is "Thunder and Lightning" with Williams and Jaydon Blue being the one-two punch behind Dak Prescott, that feels like Javonte will be sticking around.
Then again, we thought that with Micah Parsons, and look how that turned out.
Still, it appears Williams is destined for a longer stay in Dallas, and you can't say he hasn't deserved it.
