The Cowboys have two first-round picks, and one could be used to bring in a star player.

The NFL Draft is going to be a fascinating watch from a Dallas Cowboys perspective.

With two first-round picks, most think the Cowboys will be using them on defensive players, given the urgent need to overhaul Christian Parker's unit.

We have heard all the rumors and speculation of the Cowboys trading up to No. 3 or No. 6 to take one of the best defensive players in the draft, like David Bailey.

But what it would cost to move up might be too rich for Dallas.

However, what if the franchise chose to do something we don't often see on draft day?

Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano has done a draft day trade for every NFC team, and of course, when it comes to Dallas, it's Maxx Crosby that the franchise goes after.

"This is probably a very un-Jerry Jones-like move, but the Cowboys’ defense is a mess, and they desperately need help with their pass rush," Vacchiano wrote. "It would be costly, though not as costly as the two first-round picks the Ravens initially agreed to send to Vegas for Crosby before that trade fell apart.

"The Cowboys have two first-rounders, so they could part with one and sweeten the deal with a couple of thirds. Assuming Crosby's knee isn't ravaged, it’s worth the risk for a team desperate to make a Super Bowl run, because adding Crosby would give the Cowboys one of the best defensive fronts in the league."

But what is interesting here is what the Cowboys give up.

According to Vacchiano, Dallas parts ways with No. 12 and a third-round pick this year, and a 2027 third-rounder to land Crosby.

That still leaves Dallas with the 20th overall pick, while adding Crosby to its pass-rushing stable. Is that something Cowboys Nation can wrap their head around? Possibly.

I've been of the thought that I'm not handing two firsts to the Raiders, even for a player like Maxx. After the Baltimore Ravens debacle, we don't have to worry about it now.

Of course, Crosby has said all the right things since landing back in Las Vegas, and I'm not sure how gettable he is now.

But if on draft day, the Cowboys pick up the phone and offer what Vacchiano proposes, what would the response be?

For some reason, this rumor of Maxx to Dallas just won't go away. Will we see it happen on draft night? Some Cowboys Nation drama surely awaits.
