Williams now has a full offseason to work on his craft and build chemistry, something he struggled to do last year.
There are a lot of words that we could use to describe Quinnen Williams' 2025 season that saw him be traded from the New York Jets to the Dallas Cowboys, and whirlwind comes to mind.
Coming to the Cowboys, Williams was seen as a player who could make an immediate impact and help a struggling Matt Eberflus defense be somewhere serviceable.
There was a sugar hit for three games as Williams was a stud in wins over the Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Chiefs, but things then went south.
In truth, not many players would have been successful under Eberflus last year, and we saw players who had a full offseason with him still struggle. So for Williams to come in midseason, he was fighting a losing battle.
But now? He's going to get a full offseason to work with new coordinator Christian Parker, develop relationships and chemistry with his teammates, and, in truth, that's half the battle.
And Williams knows it.
"I'm extremely settled now," Williams said. "I'm extremely excited, happy, and just ready to perform. I know we had a bad season last year, especially on defense, and I'm just excited and ready to get this thing turned around and going in the right direction."
Getting the defense turned around shouldn't be too hard, considering Dallas was one of, if not the worst, in football last season. So - as the Cowboys launch into this week's second OTAs session (June 8, June 9 and June 11) - the only way is up.
With Parker now calling the shots, what his vision is for Quinnen will be a fascinating one to see play out over the coming months.
Most players have markers they want to hit in a season. Whether that be sacks, tackles for loss, touchdowns, receptions, something to aim for.
But for Williams, he's taking a different approach, and it could be one that others could and maybe should follow.
"No, I don't have personal goals," he added. "I just set a goal every day to work with my defensive line coach, work with the defensive guys in the defensive room, and work with BT [Jordan] every single day to get better. Trust the process, and the results are handled itself."
We know what sort of force Williams can be on the field, and we saw it fleetingly last season, but now, with a full offseason, the hope is that we see the level of consistency from Quinnen that made him an All-Pro in 2022.
And a big reason for that could be down to one simple, and often overlooked thing.
He's finally settled at The Star.
