The Cowboys legend knows exactly what he wants to see from Brian Schottenheimer's offense for the rest of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys' offense, prior to Monday night's win over the Philadelphia Eagles, was a shadow of its former self.

The passing game wasn't working, the run game certainly wasn't working, and Dak Prescott looked "off" far too often for a quarterback of his caliber.

But against the Eagles, normal service resumed...but with a key difference.

Dak didn't throw the ball 40+ times; he threw it 27 times. And Javonte Williams didn't have a handful of carries. He had 25 carries for 155 yards and a touchdown.

The Cowboys' offensive identity, at least in that game, switched from the air-raid style to bully ball with Williams, and everything fell into place.

For me, that is the way the Cowboys need to play moving forward, because CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are at their most lethal when the defense has to stack the box to stop Williams.

And as it turns out, Cowboys legend Darren Woodson agrees.

"I look at this team, this team is heavy on the offensive side of the ball, Dak has to be perfect, and that offense has to be perfect," Woodson said in an exclusive chat with our own Mike Fisher. "What I would like to see out of the offense is an identity. You saw a little bit against Philly, they ran the ball with Javonte Williams extremely well.

"When you've got the Tyler's [Guyton, Smith, Booker], they want to run the ball. I get it, they got CeeDee, Pickens, you still have to control the line of scrimmage. You can't always be cute. Let's get lined up, up front, let's bloody some noses, set up the play-action pass. Find your identity, and I think this team's trying to figure that out right now."

Given the weapons on the outside in Lamb, Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin, and others, it's the "easy" thing for Brian Schottenheimer to throw the football.

You have those stars so you might as well use them.

But in true, passionate, Woody fashion, he wants the Cowboys to listen to what he's saying.

"I would say I know you got the pretty toys outside, run the damn football," Woodson added banging on the table. "Let's bloody some noses."

Schottenheimer did against the Eagles, and now coming up against the Arizona Cardinals, who have given up rushing yards of 162, 140, 163, and 159 yards on the ground, so this is the ideal time to double down, and as Woody says, "bloody some noses."

Yes, the Cowboys have some shiny toys on the outside, but Monday night proved that this team can win in a much better and more balanced way if it commits to running the football with Williams and "the Tylers" up front.
