A shocking rumor suggests the Cowboys might pursue Tyreek Hill. Is this bold move or a recipe for locker room chaos?
We are all for rumors and thought exercises regarding who the Dallas Cowboys could target to improve the roster.
Some are good, others aren't, and this latest one is a little odd.
With Brian Schottenheimer's offense being elite last season, there is no reason to think the Cowboys should have to invest in more weapons for Dak Prescott.
Of course, unless George Pickens is moved on.
Still, with Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and young Ryan Flournoy as Dak's top three weapons, Dallas feels like it is in a good spot.
But that hasn't stopped Thomas Carelli of Fantasy Sports SI from linking the Cowboys with a veteran receiver.
And that's Tyreek Hill.
"Head coach Brian Schottenheimer loves to throw the ball," Carelli wrote. "We saw this very clearly with the dual successes of George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb in 2026. Dallas may be very willing to add Hill and make this the far-best passing offense in the NFL. Hill as a WR3? That is not too shabby, whether he is limited or not.
"The Cowboys will have to feed many mouths in this scenario. Hill will be the WR3, and his target share very well may be stuck under 20%. However, with his explosion, Hill can still be a Flex with WR2 upside, volatile in that overall ranking."
Right. There is a lot to work through here.
We don't mean to be rude by using the word "dumb,'' but ...
Firstly, the Cowboys don't need a receiver if the roster stays as it is.
Secondly, bringing in someone like Hill would take reps and snaps away from the younger players in the process of successfully proving themselves, like Flournoy.
Thirdly, Hill is coming off a devastating knee injury, and regular readers here know that Jerry Jones wants no redshirts this offseason. Meaning that any players coming in should not miss the offseason workouts or the early part of the regular season due to injury (like Shavon Revel Jr.).
And lastly, Schottenheimer is a "culture guy," and you can make the case that Hill doesn't exactly fit into that. (We're being kind.) The series of off-field incidents makes me give this a hard pass.
So there are a host of reasons why the Cowboys won't go after Hill.
Pick your favorite.
