Dallas has an urgent need at linebacker, and one player fans want the franchise to select needs luck to find his way to The Star.

The Dallas Cowboys' linebacker need is glaring as the draft approaches.

We know the Cowboys have their eyes on several veteran options, including Bobby Wagner, Jordyn Brooks, and even Azeez Al-Shaair.

Our own Mike Fisher thinks the Cowboys will add a veteran linebacker before the draft, to ease the pressure to select one in the first round.

But there are a couple of options the Cowboys could go with in the first round, and the name we have heard the most is Ohio State's, Sonny Styles.

But such is Styles' talent, many don't envision a world where he lasts to No. 12.

Teams like the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants have repeatedly selected Sonny in mock drafts, so the Cowboys would need some luck for the Buckeyes star to reach them.

Well, in his latest mock draft for NFL.com, Chad Reuter has Styles landing in Dallas.

"Not every NFL Scouting Combine star ends up being a top-10 selection," Reuter wrote. "Front seven defenders Jamin Davis, Odafe Oweh and Dallas Turner had similar workouts to Styles in Indy and and lasted until the second half of the first round.

"Just like when Micah Parsons fell to them at No. 12 in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys luck out again this year, landing a much-needed run defender who can play in the box and track down ball carriers in space."

Is this the best-case scenario for the Cowboys at No. 12? There is a case to be made.

Styles is everything Brian Schottenheimer and defensive coordinator Christian Parker want in a linebacker.

Versatile, physical, and an elite tackler, Styles would instantly upgrade Dallas' linebacking core with DeMarvion Overshown.

His ability to make a huge impact in various roles on the field makes him a highly valued asset, especially in Dallas, which is why there has been such a clamor to get him to Parker's defense.

But other teams feel the same.

So there would need to be a run on other defensive players, or a trade up for a different position from another team (or Dallas could trade up) for Styles to land with the Cowboys.

Dallas has big linebacker needs, and in Styles, he would go a long way to fixing them.
