Dak is often a big talking point for fans and the media, but it appears that this time No. 4 has gotten his due.
There are few players in football who divide opinion like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
From being a top-10-ish quarterback to being no good at all, there's no in-between for No. 4, and it's been that way for years.
His regular season numbers are as good as anyone's, but the playoffs and a 2-5 record are where many draw the line on Dak. Still, he's better than most right now.
Coming off a 2025 season that you could argue was one of the best of his career under Brian Schottenheimer, Dak threw for 4,552 yards and 30 TDs with only 10 interceptions as he was in the MVP race for the first half of the year.
But ranking where Dak should be among the best in football is a debate fans and media have been having for years, and it has always been a huge talking point.
Which is why many were excited to see where scouts, coaches, and NFL executives put Prescott for ESPN's list of the top 10 quarterbacks in football heading into 2026.
Well, as it turns out, Dak finally has gotten his flowers, landing at No. 6, with Lamar Jackson (No. 5), Joe Burrow (No. 4), Matthew Stafford (No. 3), Patrick Mahomes (No. 2) and Josh Allen (No. 1), ahead of him.
"He's a true, acute progression passer," an NFL coordinator said in ESPN's piece. "There are only so many of those types. He can read the whole field, from pre- to post-snap. He's just really a good commander of the offense."
Is that right?
Prescott was named ahead of Justin Herbert, Drake Maye, Jared Goff and Caleb Williams in the top 10 list.
I feel that is about right, given the season Dak had in 2025.
Now, the big thing is for Prescott to do it again, as in his career, usually a great season is followed up by a poor one, and given how the offseason has gone in Dallas, that can't happen.
The sixth-best quarterback in football is a good reward for a player who is often much maligned, and now he'll have to go prove once again that he deserves to be high on ESPN's list.
