Miller has been working his way back after a late start to the offseason, but can he play against the Giants on Sunday night?
All eyes will be on the Dallas Cowboys' defense against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium as Brian Schottenheimer's team opens up the new year in prime time on Sunday Night Football.
And among those who qualify as interesting watch is Von Miller.
The veteran was a late offseason addition, and while he has been seen at practice both in Oxnard and at The Star, it isn't known if Miller will make his full Cowboys debut on Sunday night.
Not seen as a player who will get a lot of snaps, more so roughly 15-20, as he did for the Washington Commanders last season, Miller won't have to be at 100 percent to be able to hit the field.
But that doesn't mean the Cowboys will rush him into the line-up though.
And for Schottenheimer, when asked if Miller is trending towards playing, he kept his cards close to his vest.
“Yeah, I think he is,” Schottenheimer said. “We haven't finalized that, we're really just kind of getting them exposed to some of the basic concepts that they do offensively, defensively, and special teams. In terms of play time and the roster numbers and all those things we'll finalize that.
"But I don't see any reason from a physical standpoint that Von wouldn't be ready to play this week. If he's one of the guys that makes it, then he will. But we haven't had those discussions yet.”
So, Miller is in a bit of limbo right now, and there's no denying Dallas will already know how much Von could play on Sunday night.
The question is, after a short preseason, how much do they trust that he can go out and perform, albeit on limited reps?
Still a "sack daddy" by his words, Miller can still get after the quarterback and will likely be used as a pass rush specialist on third down for Christian Parker's defense, which was his role last season in Washington.
Fans can't wait to see what kind of production we get out of Miller if he does suit up, and Schottenheimer sort of hinted that he is trending in the right direction, so if I had to bet, I'd say Von debuts at MetLife.
