New Cowboys defensive end Rashan Gary is ready to put it all on the line for his new team.

The Dallas Cowboys didn't sit on their hands as free agency began, and they wound up getting trade-involved with the same team as last offseason -- the Green Bay Packers.

The Cowboys traded for defensive end Rashan Gary to be one of the shiny new pieces for Christian Parker's defense.

Last fall, the Cowboys moved Micah Parsons to Green Bay in a blockbuster than netted them two first-round picks.

This time, Dallas parted ways with a 2027 fourth-round pick to get the veteran Gary to The Star.

There have been varying thoughts on the Cowboys' trade for Gary.

Some see it as overpay, given his cap hits of $19. 5 million in 2026 and $22.5 million in 2027, but we expect those numbers to be massaged down.

Still, the Cowboys are getting a player they were linked to last offseason and who is just a year removed from being a Pro Bowler.

So, Rashan is no scrub, and he's looking forward to getting down to business as a Cowboy.

"Just everything, the Cowboys organization is putting together, I'm happy to be a part of it," Gary said. I'm happy to start up some change, in the right way, being able to come back, play with a guy that I know and just his work ethic and what the game of football means to KC [Kenny Clark], it means the same to me.

"So, I just can't wait to go to work and show Cowboys nation what I'm all about."

Set to be part of a defensive line that also includes former teammate Kenny Clark and Quinnen Williams, the Cowboys have bolstered the line for Parker.

The trades of Osa Odighizuwa and Solomon Thomas eat away at the depth of the position, although some of Cowboys Nation are holding out hope that those moves will be met with a play for someone like Maxx Crosby.

As for Gary, he's coming off a 7.5 sack season in Green Bay, but the devil is in the details, as all of those sacks came in the first seven games of the year.

After that? Nothing.

Some think the injury to Micah Parsons impacted Gary's performance, but the Cowboys will be hoping he can rediscover the 2023 form that saw him become a Pro Bowler for the first time (7.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits).

Gary is happy to be part of Parker's defense.

Now we await to see who else will be joining him this offseason.
